I am just wondering if anyone else is starting to question what to purchase or not purchase at this time. This year is pretty crazy, and while I don't really care about delays, as they usually lead to better products. However, delays that stack up on top of each other and roll into the same month and or time period of release gives my wallet the fits.

This year is getting very financially exhausting with:
    - Scoria - $195
    - Soar - $185
    - Kronos - $160
    - Feral Rex - $400
    - Quantron - $???
    - Prometheus - $500+

That is not even taking into account the MP figures.

    Argh, this is nutty!

100% agree my friend. I have literally chopped my want list in half due to budget constraints. Even sold things I hadn't planned on selling. As of right now I went from wanting about 20 diff figures to just TFC Prometheus, fanstoys/giga dinos and a few odds and ends. Really putting a hurt on me.

FT Dinobots and Hegemon- that's pretty much all the 3rd party items i'll buy the rest of the year.

I have a huge distaste in my mouth for 3rd party in general right now ( Short of FT and Hegemon, lol)

last year was the first year i had to be selective in my purchases there is just so much 3rd party stuff out between add ons and full figures and again with combiners.

would probably be better if there wasnt 5 combiners going on right now. if it wasnt for them i think i could slack off a bit. Im kinda happy its a movie year, so far none of it has interested me. so its only 3p and MP stuff. Fants toys does great work from what ive seen but i have yet to bite on a 3rd party masterpiece fig. still trying to finish off my classics stuff instead

thankfully that saves me quite a bit of money from the start.

things i have yet to buy that i really want are

    warden
    tfc gears of war 3
    maniaking
and i kinda want FP roadbuster but im a bit unsure on that one

There was a time when I could purchase everything 3P but that died early last year. The market has only continued to grow and as with others, despite honing in on what I care about most, I find myself making choices. The excess of product is such an amazing problem to have!

I am thinking this is eventually going to catch up to the 3rd Party guys. I mean, we cannot keep going like this anymore.

I recall when 3rd Party was small, it was easy and exciting.

Now my thinking is, WOW, that looks AWESOME! HOW THE HELL AM I GONNA BUDGET FOR THAT NOW?! Can't this come out next year?

I'm feeling a little more selective, yeah. Although I'd rather be spoiled for choice when it comes to cool toys than the old days of Hasbro being the only option.

Yes and no. With the majority of Hasbro's stuff being junk* this year, I have plenty of extra $ to go after third party items. Looking at my list of items bought so far this year, 10 of the 19 have been third party.

*this statement should be viewed as my personal opinion and is not up for debate

Since I don't buy many retail hasbro TF's anymore, I'm ok with it. It's a few expensive purchases a year, but if you plan well, it's ok.

Plus the delays and such actually have me making a dent in my credit cards. I know people complain when stuff is delayed, but for me over the past few months, I've been like sweet, another chunk off my CC.

But I'm very selective about what 3P stuff I get too. This year has been my largest for 3P preorders ever, and as of right now I have FT scoria, Daca kronos, MBC bruticus on order. I want to add FT Soar and MT Quantron to that list as well, and that should finish me off on 3P for the year. I try not to go overboard with everything that "looks cool".

So with a little planning, and sever cutbacks on hasbro product, it's pretty manageable for me even on a limited budget.

    Yes.

I have basically dropped most of everything else I collected because of my renewed love of Bots.

Between the 3P product and the amazing quality of the comics, they have made me lost interest in Batman, Avengers and other superhero properties. I've sold off tons of DC, Marvel, Wrestling and Star Wars items to put towards the time and money to support Transformers.

    And I love it.

I use to think the same thing. But collecting was almost easier back then. You knew what you were getting and that was that.

I recently grabbed some GI Joes, and the amount of Vechicles and Joes I was able to pick up for $250 is insane by comparison.

I am in a financial rut at the moment because of some dangerous third party purchases. I'm sitting here wondering when I can strike again

It's expensive, but I am happier with quality over quantity. I have really downsized my collection over the last few years and buy very little mainline Hasbro these days, so it balances out. Space is a bigger concern, so expensive quality 3P purchases are welcomed over buying an entire line of something like Beast Hunters.

Nope, outside of Takara masterpieces the only thing I'm definitely getting is Scoria. Soar, because of his soul patch, diminished height and other shortcomings is on a wait and see basis. If FT's snarl is so and so like their Soar I just might drop the entire FT dinobots altogether. The only other thing I might be considering is Ollie and he's also on a wait and see basis.

I don't particularly find parties draining, financially, as I only collect figures that slavishly adhere to the Takara MPs, aesthetically and scale wise. And Fans Toys and maybe Cubex seem to be the only ones capable of pulling of that feat....at the moment.

No. I know how to save money and budget. If Item X is $300.00 and is due to release in June, I have $300.00 ready before June. If X gets pushed to August, that $300.00 doesn't move. I'm not going to spend the $300.00 on something different, and then scramble to get $300.00 for Item X again in August AND Item Z which I also budgeted for that was due in August.
