Anyone else find themselves clearing out figures to make room for new ones?

My whole life I've cherished my Transformers collection from my very first figure (Armada Scavenger) to my latest ( Thrilling 30 Megatron) however with such a limited space in which to store/ display my collection I've found myself parting with some of my figures simply to make room for the upcoming. Luckily one of my nephews is 6 years old and loves Transformers so they're being given to him stage by stage as I clear some out and just wondered does anyone else part with the old to make room for the new, or am I committing sacrilege? (Todays donated figures Universe Undermine, DOTM Laserbeak and DOTM voyager OP)

I sell older stuff to buy newer stuff, but only if I really don't like that older stuff, and only when that newer stuff costs a lot. I think we all part with some stuff for one reason or another :)
    Unless... they hoard lol

When I need room I cycle some out into storage to make space.

I also have only a limited amount of space for my Transformers, so I have had to sell a few from time to time to make room for the new MP's. It's not always the easiest thing to do, but it helps to keep my collection at bay and makes me really think before making new purchases.

I just got through with a massive photo shoot to post photos to my sales thread for this very reason. I really like each figure that I'm letting go of, but I've got to part ways with them.

I'm not finished yet either, as this is simply one phase in my process.

I have this same problem. There are some I can easily get rid off (especially when I think WTF was I thinking getting THIS?!). Others, it does hurt, but in the end, I realize I have a better version of said figure that was released later (i.e. why I am considering selling my complete set of MISB TF Alternators).

I do tend to put non-TFs on the chopping block first though like my Marvel Universe figures.

Absolutely. And, if you have MISB figures, now is a great time to donate them to Toys 4 Tots.

This is what I do too. I don't sell anything to make room. It's still saddening to have to place figures away in boxes rather than be able to display them all. Sometimes a few will get to come out again later when I feel like a refresh to my displays, but some figures I've not had out of storage for years.

I'm actually just about to do a storage sweep myself as I've had a bit of a TF-buying splurge in recent weeks and I just have no spare places to display the new figures. I'm just struggling with having to put most of my TFP stuff into storage as I've really enjoyed having them to hand to fiddle with.

A couple years back i exiled my movie figures ( with the exception of Ejector, a transforming toaster is too crazy not to keep) as i began to really hate the aesthetic.

Made lots of room most of it i have filled with stuff i do like.

I've been packing things away to go into storage, not to sell. As much as I want to, you can't display everything.

Very recently I sold off about half of my Prime collection in one go. Most of them were impulse buys more than anything else. Need some extra cash for upcoming MP's and 3P figures :D

I have doubles of some figures to display loose depending on amount of shelf space. Since I don't have much shelf space left, I only buy 1 of each type of figure in my collection.

When I moved from my apartment to my house I sold off around a quarter of my collection if not more. Mostly A/E/C and non-show BW figures. Since then I haven't really sold to much, but have moved some figures whenever there is a better version of the mold released (Omega Sentinel to year of dragon Omega Supreme) or whenever I need room (just moved a Energon Swoop/Grimlock) I would probably move more of them but it is just a lot work that I really don't like doing unless I need to.

Time, Money, Space. Sooner or later you're going to run out of one, and you'll have to adjust your collecting accordingly.

I do this. I seem to always have a bunch listed for sale on the Junkion exchange and on ebay, and whatever I wind up with in my paypal account is usually used to get other figures.

Sometimes I look at the shelves and think they've gotten too crowded, so I do a purge, list a bunch of figures for sale, clear out some space... then I wind up with more, and the cycle repeats.

I keep telling myself I'm just tweaking my collection to get it just right before I stop buying more figures, but I'm starting to think that's not the case. :)

Sacrilege? hardly. It's wonderful to pass on toys to new owners that will enjoy them as you have. and remember - they are JUST TOYS. they are not all-encompassing things that your life is useless without. just toys...
