That was probably HASBRO's ploy from the get-go.Sells more if they are dead.

It's less that we're getting lots of dead toys, and more that the writers of prime are a little bit kill-crazy.

Seriously, you just listed off a larger portion of the robot cast.

only one of those died offscreen... the rest were characters people wanted toys of.

Not to mention the toyline itself is still way behind the show.

Prime I just more realistic, so characters actually die in war scenarios. So I don't find it weird, since they are killing characters left and right in the show. I personally love it!

Not really weird some of those characters were probably already going to get toys before the writers decided oh hey lets kill so and so off.

Plus we don't even know if Airachnid is dead yet.

I don't think it's weird because there aren't a whole lot of characters in the show. What I do think is weird is that Hasbro didn't make the writers come up with more characters to join the cast.

More like they are Decepticon kill crazy and they listed the larger portion of the Decepticon cast. Only one Autobot that was an on-screen character and he was killed in the very first episode.

The time and expense of creating entirely new CG models is usually quoted as the reason why the cast of Prime is so limited... which frankly, makes for more fully-developed characters anyway.

And killing off a substantial portion of your cast is hardly new to Transformers lore... They've just spread it out over three seasons, as opposed to cramming it all into a single animated film.

I must admit, I was surprised to learn that AM-24 "Silas Breakdown" was another zombie figure, and that the pilot inside is literally manipulating a corpse...!

The writers have free reign with most characters, for the sake of the story, I think.
But it is getting annoying that some/a lot of the characters getting toys are already dead in the fiction.

I think it hurts sales, but I don't know how much. Maybe it's completely dismissable, on a global scale.

But I weep for all the pegwarming Cliffjumpers, because I feel that's one of the cooler designs in the show, and people over here just don't seem to want him. :(

Death itself isn't realistic nor mature. It's how it's handled that is realistic and mature. Let's stop with the fallacy that "Death = Maturity/Realism." The fact that Prime is NOT real life. It's a story being told, and because of that, if you want a good story, there's ways of handling certain themes and concepts that can either make your story seem childish and immature, or something that's mature and intellectually worthwhile.

Prime's deaths aren't anything worthwhile. Characters are put ont he chopping block left and right without a care for how their deaths will really affect the other characters, nor are the others truly affected by them. Arcee's deal with Cliffjumper's death is a bad "gimmick" that is hardly interesting or mature, for instance.

TFP toy line is just following what's popular. The Walking Dead is popular. Ergo, zombies will sell more toys. Yes, I am serious. =)

It's all a matter of opinion. I think that Arcee losing two of her partners is handled well. I mean, you may have a feeling it should be handled differently, but I don't see it being a useless tool.

Also killing a Prime is always going to have more of an impact. Losing your leader is always going to be worse then losing a partner or some one else. In terms of other decepticons, they obviously don't show care for who dies. However they did handle Megatrons near death pretty well. Also the way that Dreadwing deals with his brothers death was pretty good as well. At least it was addressed, instead of being an after thought.

But as mentioned it is all a matter of opinion. The way that the deaths of like 6 major character were handled in the animated movie was much worse.

Btw, I didn't say anything about maturity. I said real. In a war, people die. Just how it is. Regardless on how the death is dealt with. In old GI Joe and TFers cartons you have people at war for generations and no one dies. That is not realistic. That is all I was saying.

Arcee was greatly affected be Cliffjumper's death because as we saw In Out of the Past he helped her cope with Tailgate's death and that he cared for her a lot which she liked about him. It's a big part of her development in the show which carried out for a long time.

Dreadwing came to Earth to avenge his brother's death and was furious to find out about Skyquake's body being reborn as a Terrorcon.

Knockout since the episode Crossfire happend made comments about how he missed Breakdown being around and in the Human Factor he wanted to slice Silas up in memory of Breakdown.

I understand if the way the death in Prime's not handled right to you and to some people but to say they left no impact on the other characters whatsoever isn't true at all.

I think you are taking that statement made a little too literally for a cartoon or fictional character series."Death",wether you believe is mature or not is a real fact of life, especially in battle.I personally also like things kept a little more realistic.Granted these shows are made for kids, not adults. As mentioned by somebody else in a previous statement,CGI is a costly proccess,so I am in a firm belief that for this reason and this reason alone is why we are seeing this happen in the show.It does make for a more personable character based driven series which is what makes all of us like these characters to begin with.We get to know them on a more personal one on one level.I just wish Jazz was given some love. He's my favorite.;)

I would be fine getting a Jazz as long as he is not a Stereotypical black autobot.
