And Movie stuff. There is a send off line next year, but I imagine Prime will be the main focus

Are you saying that Mirage won't be out till February? If that's true, why the hold up? A Hasbro rep told me they were going to release him in December, but there's no proof of that, either.

Things around here are moving so slow I'm thinking of marking individual figures and timing how long it takes for them to be bought. I suspect it's over a month.

I agree, this line is mainly Autobots and repeated characters. And it lacks non-movie characters.

My Local store had two sections of Deluxes one for Transformers Deluxes and one for Bumblebee repaints - and there was quite a few Nitro Bee's in with the Mudflaps & Thundercrackers too.
Basically they have 2/3rds of their stock is bumblebee (about 18-24 of them of different kinds) and the remaining figures say 6 or 8 were other characters.
So the whole Bumblebee thing is out of hand it's just like the issue with He Man in MOTU during 2003 if everything is a different He man it's just annoying; And heck Cyberfire Bee isn't even out here yet. let alone a follow up.

It's not that there's Bee repaints I wouldn't buy I'd buy cliffjumper or Stealth Bee or even an attack mode Bee. heck even a Target exclusive style repaint of Battle Blades Bee. I just don't feel much desire for the case packing to be slanted so much in his favour that it just makes it really hard to find Roadbuster or Barricade etc.... Even Mudflap and Skids count as rare around here.
I think Dlx Prime would have been best seen as a Retail non exclusive too.

    _______ _________

    Deluxe Bee's in DOTM :

Scan Series Bumblebee : Toys R Us (ROTF Preview repaint)
Cyberglyph Bumblebee : Target / Tesco (Cannon Bumblebee repaint)
    Rally '84 Bumblebee : Walmart / Sainsbury's (Repaint of 2007 Bumblebee)
    DOTM Bumblebee (General release)
    DOTM Nitro Bumblebee (General release)
DOTM Cyberfire Bumblebee (General release repaint of DOTM Bumblebee)
Autobot Daredevil Squad Bumblebee (K'Mart gift set exclusive - a repainted Cannon Bumblebee)
Streetside Bot Brawl Bumblebee (repaint of DOTM Bumblebee)
Transformers Trilogy : Bumblebee (due 2012) partly grey repaint of DOTM Bumblebee

There sure is a lot of them. and you add that to the ones from Wanted & HFTD series a lot more still. not to mention the toys of all the other sizes and scales.

Anyone one able to hook me up with a Autobot Daredevil Squad Bumblebee K'Mart gift set incidentally ?

It's the same here. Bee dominates the pegs, and the remainders are wave 1 figures. We don't even have wave 3 or 4 here! What pisses me off is the fact that WheelJack and Mirage weren't released first.

Hasbro sales and marketing aren't stupid, they read these boards, and they are all too aware of what the fans and collectors want. They could at least tell us when Mirage is coming out, instead of saying nothing at all.

Overall, the DOTM line has been disappointing compared to ROTF.

Well, maybe they tried getting Mirage licensed?

I have been feeling this for quite a while, which is mainly why I was so disappointed with the small amount of DOTM reveals at NYCC. The 5th DOTM wave got released this month, whereas the fifth waves of the ROTF and TF07 lines were probably released in August, and those lines were launched about a month later than DOTM was. It's also taken Hasbro far longer to get out main line versions of more major characters than it did in the other lines. I know we still haven't gotten all the Constructicons, and it took a while for them to release Elita-1, but Mirage and the other two Dreads all got more action than them.

I could be mistaken, but I don't believe it's a license issue. They would have had to have
recieved permission from both Ferrari and Mercedes before principal photography began on the film.

The license would have had to include both the rights to use their vehicles in the film, as well as in the toyline. If they wouldn't agree to the toys, then their cars would not have been used in the film.

I don't know what the real issue is, but I hope that Hasbro takes notice of the overall disappointment by the fans on the line, so that this doesn't happen again.

I'm guessing the reason for Mirage's delay is that Hasbro has had trouble getting the license, but for some reason really wants to, and wasn't/isn't willing to give up and make an approximation like they were with Sideways.

Yeah, but according to Shadow, the final figure is close to a Ferrari

    Thread

You mean the actual toy in vehicle mode? CLOSE as in implying they didn't have the rights, so they produced a close variant on their own?

OMG! That's news. So the figure might not get released due to legal issues, right?

No, according to Shadow they made their own car to avoid licensing issues. Just like ROTF Sideways

I wonder who I could call at Hasbro to motivate them into actually selling this thing? Maybe if I donate a kidney they'll listen to reason?

Well if you look at it right, they're following lessons learned from RotF.

-Large toys who are not Optimus don't sell.
-Kids have almost no interest in voyager class toys.
-Toys that were not in the movie sell horrible.
    -White things don't sell.
-Mini-scale things DO sell, and if they don't you lose less profit.
-Held weapons are more impressive than small, deployed weapons.
