Anyone else feel that the DotM line is kinda...empty?

I mean there's just not much to it. Stores have had essentially the same stock for months now, there's been very little new shown for it, almost no voyagers to speak of, tons of it is repaints or some such.

The last two lines had a lot more to them, a lot more new molds releasing pretty consistently.

    Yes.

We're already in that drought where there's nothing but repaints and every store around here has nothing but the same wave 1 crap.

I'm skipping most of it and saving my money for 3rd party and Prime.

Yeah, it feels like we're just killing time until the next big catch-all title comes, rather than just keeping up the momentum. Which sucks because I was really enjoying it until it slammed on the brakes.

yeah I agree too. around here is the same Wave 1 crap. I haven't seen the repaints of deluxe ratchet and that evil bumblebee.. All I see are a ton of deluxe Roadbusters & Crankcase hanging on the pegs.

All in all, I'm just waiting for HA & Deluxe Soundwave, Deluxe Wheeljack, & deluxe Leadfoot.

I want to start seeing Prime and new generation stuff..

Your wrong about the first movie line. It had the same thing happen to it. ROTF however did have a lot more to it. Because it had a huge raft of repaints from movie 1.

Many stores over stacked on the first two waves of figures and now have just those. Patience is the key, something the vocal minority of the fandom lacks. Just do what I'm doing: Sit back, relax, and be glad you're wallet isn't empty.

Got to agree. I really enjoy the engineering and sculpting of this line, but it does feel like the really compelling new characters from the movie got bizarrely late releases, and the redecos are just coming in fast and furious.

I must admit that it does feel that way a little. However, just doing a quick count at the Deluxe and Voyager sizes and not including exclusives...

Deluxes - Going up to Wave 6 in each line, the latest confirmed DotM wave...
    - TFTM07 - 18 figures, 16 of which (89%) are original molds
    - RotF - 24 figures, 14 of which (58%) are original molds
    - DotM - 21 figures, 16 of which (76%) are original molds

Voyagers - Going up to Wave 4 in each line, the latest confirmed DotM wave...
    - TFTM07 - 8 figures, 6 of which (75%) are original molds
    - RotF - 9 figures, 6 of which (67%) are original molds
    - DotM - 8 figures, 6 of which (75%) are original molds

Based on this, after a comparable number of waves, DotM has three fewer Deluxes than RotF but three more than TFTM07. The DotM line also has a higher proportion of original Deluxe molds than RotF, but comes up behind TFTM07. At the Voyager size, DotM has a similar number of Voyagers to both previous lines and an identical number of original molds.

Also, there's barely any non-movie new moulds, which I think also effects how the line is perceived.

DotM isn't that far off RotF in terms of non-Movie new molds at the Deluxe size class at this point in the toyline (DotM even has more, depending on one's definition of "non-movie") and has the same number of non-Movie new molds at the Voyager size. Neither RotF nor DotM is anywhere close to the number of non-Movie new Deluxe molds in TFTM07, though.

Deluxe, up to Wave 6, non-movie new molds...
    - TFTM07 - Eight counting Protoform Starscream who was in the film but not in that form; seven otherwise
    - RotF - Two
    - DotM - Four counting Jolt, Mudflap and Skids who were not in DotM; one if those three are excluded due to being characters in a previous film

Voyager, up to Wave 4, non-movie new molds...
    - TFTM07 - 0
    - RotF - 1
    - DotM - 1

I don't like the weapon gimmick so I haven't purchased any. Maybe prime will be better.

Has anyone noticed how's any form of hyper for the moive has always died quickly. Yet G1 stuff has been 'in' for 20 years.
I can't wait till the next moive way comes out. I can get my reverb and we'll all be done with it.

Good stats, but i'm afraid it's not just the molds that count, it's the lack of new characters. not everybody picks up every mold of every character. if anyone have at least two better Optimus toys (Rotf Leader and Hftd Voyager) from previous lines for example, inferior ones from Dotm line mean nothing to them.

I totally agree. Since wave 1 it seems like all we've been getting is repaints. Even wave 8 is going to be made up entirely of repaints, this time of Soundwave and Wheeljack (which, in their defence, look pretty slick), ANOTHER Bumblebee and another Ratchet. But the Prime toys are out soon, so we can all forget about the DOTM line :D

They all look the same to me. I'm sure that's why Lego switched to Hero Factory because they were tired of Hasbro copying Bionicles.
