I only use Facebook just because that's what my jeep clubs use for events, membership, etc. Other than that, I would just rather the world went back to message boards. I feel like social media has reduced humanity down to its lowest common denominator, and is responsible for a lot of the problems we're dealing with today.

I do have a Lifeinvader... I mean a Facebook page, but I'm no longer an active user of it. Back in January, I just decided to stop going on there and using it, except to wish people a Happy Birthday. I think it's a good decision, and I think I'm happier not using it. My family thought I got put into FB prison, when I stopped posting. They know now that I haven't.

There are plenty of times that I have been stressed. I don’t think social media always make it worse. But even if I decided to stop using the accounts I have for Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram, I think I would still plenty stressed. It’s unavoidable regardless if you use social media or you only watch the news to know what’s happening in the world (I envy the people who don’t look at social media AND avoid watching the news). Not just b/c of dealing with BS and life sometimes sucking. But with how corrupt people are and how screwed up the political system is. But I’m happy places like TF2005 exist where I can talk and share about what interests people.

Social media, to me, is a double edged sword b/c it can get draining dealing with BS. But at the same time, I’m looking through social media and any news sites to be up to date on news and politics. Or on shows and movies that interest me. I’m also able to keep track of bands I like. And sometimes, I’ll have a discussion with someone that doesn’t make me feel like I want to bash my head against the wall or throw myself out the window. Plus, I don’t like regularly talking to people in real life unless I have to. So there’s that.

Good on you. I myself can just put the family/friends’ contact info written on paper, on my phone notepad, and just text, call or meet up to wish them a happy birthday and to party.

I don’t/hope I didn’t sound rude there though, I am just saying you don’t even need FB for that either.

I had a Facebook profile for about a year several years ago, never used it, never posted to it so I got rid of it. I also don't have snap and I Neither TIK nor TOK Tweet or have Instagram. I have a Linked In account that I use for networking purposes and that's about it.

I have a Facebook account, mainly to keep in contact with my family. I also have a Twitter account, but I can't tell you how much I hate twitter and it's users, I mainly just wanted to use it to keep up with news on my favorite games and creators, but what I don't want are people spewing toxicity, Politics, and other garbage that I don't want to see as it makes me think that social media is showing humanity at it's very worst. I swear if people acted the way they do on twitter and facebook in real life, I would decide to never leave my house again.

So I try to limit my time on social media just for the sake of my own mental health.

Deleted Facebook and Instagram from my phone in January and it's had a big impact on my anxiety.

I still use FB to promote shows and network, but it's on a PC, and that is only a few hours a week.

Sometimes I feel some spread the wrong message to everyone and the majority listen to them and get the wrong idea of everything. For instance, pollution. Instead of solving the problem, media says to blame it on other people, and there comes a big fight. Or saying certain companies are abusive to employees, but it’s not true. My company had an employee that worked for a short period of time and afterward on our social media site, he posted a fake name and made bad comments about our company. It was hard to hire anyone then.

I still say I can't believe how some can believe some posts that give false info. Say like posts people believe like, Red Bull is the key to eternal youth, Burgers are made of Camel meat or Ocean is polluted because that's where Amazon dumped all their unwanted Earthrise Coneheads.

I would also throw in these dumbass YouTube reviewers. Like I said, opinions that nobody gives a shit about or even asked for. Also these fast food reviewers. Like anyone should care what some idiot thinks when they eat a fucking Big Mac. Like people have never had them before. Duh!

My local supermarket chain sells camel meat burger patties. Clearly labelled as such. Wild camels are deemed pests in the Australian outback. I've yet to try as I'm not game. Not game... get it?

    Tough crowd.

I can't remember my last Big Mac or any other Macca's burger. It's been that long. Home made burgers are way better. BUT, I'm sure these reviewers or whatever they call themselves have big following. Who these peeps are is beyond me.

    YouTube (Old):
Burgers can be made of any meat...I'd try a camel burger. Though I'd prefer to stay as vegetarian/vegan as possible. Social media is what you make of it though. I don't use it but initially thought FB was good for family and friends...then I guess some started to "exploit" it, or maybe it was vice versa? Like landline phones...used to be just for normal calls, then psychics and other shenanigans, robo dialers, calls from foreign countries that ping us for giant bills if we pick up. At least some "social media" had their starts strictly as exploitative platforms, snapchat, tiktok, can't blame those really (could but I don't lol...I let people have their vices so long as its respectful). It's just like TV and the internets, there's good and bad out there, fiction, non fiction, psuedo misinformed disinformed non fiction. ;)

I was just using that as an example. Never knew there was such a thing.

Another example of the problem of social media spreading false info, I remember watching the news that there was a social media post that actually cost a few people their lives. Not going to get into detail. Unless you want to pm me.

I use Twitter mainly for news for my hobbies like sports but never post. Sometimes retweet for the below:

I also mainly use Instagram, Facebook and Twitter to enter contests for my sports teams. I've won free tickets and swag so not too bag.

I used to use Facebook A LOT. Like more than 1 post a day, but I stopped. Facebook and Twitter consolidate my interests nicely.

But yeah, it's very overwhelming. I don't want my kids using it anytime soon, especially not Instagram or Tiktok.

Why Tiktok? Is it an American-centric thing? (Serious question)

I'm just wondering what the next big social media platform is going to be.

There's a TON of age-inappropriate content on TikTok that isn't labeled as such.

Yeah, Tik Tok really needs better moderation or something. My wife uses it but we don't let our youngest on there and our oldest's account is monitored by my wife for their safety.
