So I just took this picture:

And I was reminded how much I yearn for a newer Rodimus figure. The one I have isn't bad but he isn't as articulated as either of the figures flanking him.

So my mind posed the question of using one of the FP Not-Menasor bots. Upon seeing the two prototype figures again this doesn't seem like an ideal solution.

But I'm curious. Would anyone besides me be interested in a new 3rd party Rodimus figure?

In case it wasn't clear I was talking about a new Rodimus figure, not Rodimus Prime. Also known as Hot Rod. I prefer the name Rodimus and have been reading the comic quite a bit so it didn't even occur to me to call him Hot Rod.

 

Sure. I always liked the original IDW design, and I could definitely go for something more MTMTE.

 

Yes... I always wanted an update to that figure. But didn't FP deliver that?

 

I thought as well the FP protector kit was the answer to the 3rd party rodimus. Personally if FP did attempt to remake not-hot rod I would hope that they attempt to make him along the lines of the warbot series, not only that but still make it compatible with the original protector set or just make a whole new set with not-rod and the prime trailer. That I feel would be the most ideal approach about this possible project.

 

Nope. I'm more than satisfied with FP Protector w/ the Dr Wu face.

I like my FP mixed with some Wu, but I'd love a new IDW MTMTE Hotrod (I know he calls himself Rodimus but without the matrix or maturity he's Hotrod to me.) like about Drift/Blurr or Kup size would suit me.

 

I think Rodimus is pretty well covered by the FansProject set, but wouldn't mind a new Hot Rod at some point further on down the line. I love the vehicle mode on the Classics version but the robot mode is fairly meh.

 

I'd love a new Hot Rod. The Classics one kinda sucks. It's a fun toy, especially when combined with the Protector armor for extra playability, but it's really dull and lacking in character.

 

Yep I could sure go for one, the MP figure and the fansproject upgrade set never grabbed me. I would preferably want one with an updated look that retains the core design elements of hotrod but makes him a bit more, I dunno visually interesting? perhaps a color scheme that is more marone by default instead of pinkish-red as well.

 

nah. ill get the mp rodimus with trailer someday. maybe they'll do another release. the henkei with fp protector armor fits in perfectly where he is in my collection at the moment.

 

Kinda, but kinda not at the same time. The Protector kit is just amazing to look at and to mess around with, but then I wouldn't mind a new Hot Rod figure to replace to crappy old one.




If they could somehow figure out a way to produce a new deluxe scale Hot Rod, that'd still work with the Protector armour? God damn son, I'll take two!

I'd rather we got a good 3rd party galvatron first. Some kind of triple changer one to go up against Ultra Magnus.

But yeah if it were a good toy and fit my taste I'd pick one up.

 

Yes. FP Protector just doesn't do it for me. Just as CC isn't a good enough Ultra Magnus.

 

I'd buy one. The Protector upgrade is great and all, but that's for Rodimus Prime. And it still has the stupid engine blocking his face.

Just take the Animated design and put it in a Classics style, that's really all you need to do.

 

It would be nice if someone made some replacement arms for the Classic toy. These arms would have 3 pipes instead of 2, and would the hands would have 5mm holes!

 

We definitely need a more modern look for him.

That blocky classics toy simply does not work for him. The FansProject Protector upgrade made the mold visually appealing as Rodimus Prime and is basically the only thing that makes the mold worth keeping.

I'd be all about a MTMTE-style Rodimus. So many possibilities there.

 

I do. Something better than the classics version, and that does not break with gentle transformation as the Masterpiece version does shouldn't be to difficult.

 

Man I would KILL for an updated Rodimus, classics is fine and all but I seriously want an IDW Roddy. =)
