Huh? Never heard of Soundwave being a triple changer... I assumed that he would start off as a Cybertronian jet or a satellite, then he scans an Earth form.

But that would be cool if they have triple changers in TF3.

A military jet and a tank. Sounds perfect for Bay.

Although imagine the big explosion if he blew up Octane. :p

i was thinking something smaller than a 747, something like a stocky refueller, and a truck with a full size tanker behind it. you're right though.
maybe the possibility of a massive flamethrower is what's drawing me in to octane over astrotrain

    Is simple. to me.

    ROBOT - SATELITE - SPACESHIP = TRIPLECHARGER.

And hasbro, maybe has altered the satelite mode, cause the movie character must be, so complex to do a toy.. so.. they do that..

They probably made him a "triple-changer" (and I use that term loosely) because a satellite TF on its own is not that appealing to children. Energon Shockblast was a satellite as well, but they had to tack-on a tank mode for play-value so kids had more incentive to bug their parents for it...

I definitely agree. As Gingerchris said, it's the two vehicles that he loves and Bay uses these vehicles uses the most in his films and you can't forget about his links to the military & Pentagon.

Ignore him. Most of his comments are intended to degrate just about everything Hasbro does :(

I think Astrotrain would work. Make it into more than just a locomotive, and it would easily work. Would look really cool too, although the toy would be a you-know-what!

hasbro and others said before that they wanted an easy cheap toy. chances are he's a jet, then becomes a Sat on earth so to make kids WANT it they made him "both"
the forms will look different in the film i bet.

I think some are looking too deep into it. Hasbro called it a triple changer for fancy reasons. The real reason I suspect Hasbro had to change Soundwave's design is because it probably isn't in the film...

Basically, I feel we'll see Soundwave in satellite form above Earth, ordering his troops, in silhouette. He'll be a menacing voice, a prophet of doom to the Autobots. When Megatron returns, he'll come to Earth personally and reformat as a truck. Think about it, the Cybertronian toy's robot form is far too similar to the truck robot design. The comics' black depiction of that toy is probably more accurate to his depiction in the film.

And yes, Bob said Soundwave wasn't a pick-up truck. Maybe Chevrolet objected to the use of the Silverado so Bay selected a different truck.

my bet is that in the movie he is just a satellite, and this jet mode is made just for the toy, so that he transforms into something at least vaguely recognisable. same as with the skorponok 'robot' mode toy.

if he gets an earth mode after that then that would be a different toy.

Having poseble wings hardly makes a TF a triple-changer.
