I'm not really sure, but I'm really impressed by the new 5G iPod, and I'm thinking of selling my old one and upgrading. It's 6 months old, 60 GB, color screen. The back needs to be buffed but is in really good shape for a 6 month old iPod since it has been in a skin case since the day I got it. Battery life is still excellent too. I still get Apple's estimates of 15 hours of battery life. The cool thing is that this is the package that still included all the extras, before Apple dropped the bonus stuff out of the box so they could charge extra for them. Therefore, on top of the iPod, you also get the dock included ($40 value), the official Apple case ($40 value), the AC adapter (which I believe they sell for $20), and both USB and Firewire cables ($30 each). Also includes the Apple headphones and install software. This package sold for $499 6 months ago. On top of all that, I also have two iSkin evo2 skins, one black and one transparent blue. This is pretty much considered the most popular case available for the iPod. Each skin has a screen protector and a wheel protector. These skins cost $30 each originally. So I'm asking $350 for the iPod with all the pack-in accessories that Apple now charges an arm and a leg for, and $10 each for the skins if you want them. Anybody have any interest? To give you a point of reference, the new model iPod with a dock, case, and AC adapter would cost $500.
Not to sound like a jerk. But is the 5g really that much better to ditch a 60g? Not big on iPods so not up on all they have going for them. Now if it was the video one, then I could understand (but that one isn't out yet).
Well the 5G IS the video one. The term is interchangeable since video was the big addition Apple made this generation. I don't care much about the video capability, but I'm attracted by the smaller size, larger screen, choice of color, and bump in battery life. As far as being out, it should start hitting this week. But yeah, like I said I'm pretty much on the fence. If somebody wants mine, I'll upgrade. If not I'll probably just keep it and upgrade later down the road.
