I don't know what it is, but I never give my little dudes any weapons. I think it messes with the way they look. Screws up their lines in some way... Obviously I'll make exceptions for weapons that are part of the design like Megatron's cannon or Bluestreak's shoulder launchers. But hand guns... nope. Just really don't like 'em. Into the drawer they go. Anybody else?
Not me. Though I will not only display them with weapons I will vary it up. If you are willing to sell some of those extra weapons. MP only that is I would be interested.
I think it depends for me on the look for me. Stuff iconic to the character, I will keep. Things like MechTech weapons or gimmick weapons are no go (exception are missile launchers).
i got a storage bin i just throw them in when i open them. i only keep the weapon out if it really identifys the bot.
I generally liked the weapons, especially for G1. I spent a lot of time analyzing how the weapons looked from the Diaclone lines. I often feel that the G1 guys look a little off without their weapons, that's my own two cents. I can see how others may feel differently though.
I put them in the bin for safe keeping, but try to dig them out to photograph them. I was trying to take pics of Prime Bumblebee yesterday, but it just didn't look right without his weapons.
All depends on the weapon. If it actually looks like a weapon, then I generally like them. Most of the Mechtech weapons are in a box because they look ridiculous.
Weapons are integral to the mythos of Transformers, so it would be a crime for me to omit them if they came with weapons.
Do you prefer Gobots? I love weapons on robots but get your point. Why would robots need hand held weapons anyway when they can have them in-built.
I tend to ditch most stock Transformer weapons... and then spend hundreds of dollars on show-accurate weapon upgrades from Shapeways or third-party manufacturers.
Well, I imagine most Autobots don't want to be war machines, so they choose not to become too integrated with weaponry. Most laser rifles are also larger than most forearms, so the rifles should be more powerful.
Loves me some weapons. I want more weapons. AOE Hound is amazing simply for coming with all of those guns.
I like simple weapons like stuff made from one or two pieces of plastic. Though it would be cool if they worked out some standard piece of tech which had an led, and a tiny speaker, but was still smaller than a mechtech weapon. Which could then just have a different shape/colour led/sound for different figures. Would also need a space to put it on vehicle mode that didn't look stupid.
Well, I like small-ish, appropriately-scaled weapons. So stuff like, say, Classics Jazz' rifle. And like built-in weapons, like Prime Cliffjumper or Battle Blades Bumblebee have. But I HATE oversized, "BFG"-type weapons. Ugh. I hate them so much. They are ungainly, a pain to deal with, and generally detract from the aesthetics of a figure, for me. Most of them get immediately banished to a storage box.
I give them weapons. It used to help hide the hole in the fist problem. Now their doing more stuff with the curvature of sculpted fingers so it does not look as awkward bare fisted. My Transformers all carry their weapons. It usually completes their look. As for the Ungainly BFG's Yeah Their displayed with them. Their robots they have the strength to carry those fantastic shoomers where a proportional man would not. Its part of the fantasy for me.
I like when a weapon at least resembles what the original toy had or what was in the show. I will idspolay them with whatever they come with, but its just nice when its like the original. Now thats just basic guns/swords... anything that is a ridiculous missile launcher or gimmick weapon goes into "the box"
I'm a big fan of Transformers that can transform with their weapons, (like Battle Blades Bumblebee). I usually sell off my weapons as soon as I get the figures. Gives someone a chance to have an extra set of weapons without having to buy another figure, and I get a few bucks back.
I prefer to arm up my guys. They look a bit naked without them holding at least something in their hand(s), otherwise how else are the Autobots and Decepticons going to wage war against one another? Agreed with another poster about how the weaponry themselves are very important to the TF mythos. Prime has his ion rifle. Megatron his fusion cannon. The Seekers have their null rays. Ironhide has his glass gas armature/nozzle (if you have iGear PP05 Weapon Specialist). Sonic cannons, seismic rifles, high pressure water blasters, the list goes on. I appreciate that the toy designers tried to make each gun look distinctive in their shapes, lines, silhouettes, and use of negative space as much as the bots themselves, and gave them unique abilities that are as intrinsic to the wielders themselves, often only repeating certain designs only if the figures share the same or similar mold. Even standard pew-pew laser rifles used by the Datsun bros. and the Lambo Bots look different from each and have their own flair.
A little from each column. I don't use ungainly/ugly weapons (so 98% of MechTech and stuff like the early Prime Voyagers had) and I often leave ugly and/or poorly integrated missiles out of their launchers. Pretty much anything else I will use. I also like weapons to look like weapons, not repurposed exhaust pipes or whatever.
