I have 6 detolfs and never had any issues. 3 of them have been through 2 moves and never had them break. I bought 2 last week. They come in 2 separate boxes each now. One was fine, the second one (only the panel I was putting on) shattered in my hands while putting it together. Didn't drop it and wasn't forcing it. Exchanged it for another. Putting it together I stood one panel against the wall and it shattered immediately. The glass is much thinner now. Has anyone else had any issues?
I bought a new Detolf a few weeks ago. It didn't shatter, but there is a slight "bend" in the front door glass. Nothing major, but you can see it since it pitches out a little in the middle. The glass seems to be the same width, however it is different glass than the original detolfs. More likely cheaper tempered glass with the new one - The old ones have a green hue to them on the ends, the new pieces of glass have a black hue to them.
I never saw the appeal of Detolfs in the first place. They're too narrow and have too few shelves, so most of the space inside is just emptiness and there's not enough surface area to display figures. Buy a wider glass cabinet instead.
Detolfs have been known to explode for a couple of years (I'm sure it's VERY isolated, but still) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1cH_K-arWQ WTF? Case of the imploding Detolf - STATUE M A R V E L S Detolf go BOOM!
Well, that sucks. I guess I won't be buying another Defolf for a very, very long time. On the subject of overall quality, the computer desk I bought a few years ago is rock-solid. My only issue has been the finish wearing off the tabletop and the exposed particleboard swelling up from moisture.
