Simple question: What options do we have in terms of a masterpiece scale Goldbug? I know MP21 has an alt version, but I was hoping for something with that authentic gold/blue colour and head sculpt.

    Anything out there? Ta muchly.

Closest thing is Toyworld's throttlebot, Shinebug:

He's not particularly accurate, as he turns into a mini cooper, but he's about the best we'll likely get unless HasTak takes a shot at a recolor for it's Bee V2.0 mold.

There's also technically a MAAS toys recolor of their Skiff mold:

He's got the height, but he's not a particularly great toy overall, nor does he have the proper altmode as he's more based on G1 Bee's cybertronian mode.

There was this weird one: Artfeather.

Finally, Toyworld made a metallic Bee once, but never did the head remold for some weird reason IIRC:

The Weijiang KO of the Toyworld Goldbug is MP size.

Ooooh, gotta be honest, Shinebug looks lovely. Ok, not too accurate, but I dig the look of that one.

    Might have to investigate further...

I use MP-21G and painted the G2 head blue to be closer to toon accurate. Still needs a lot more gold on him though.

Sirtoys still has the Shinebug OS KO.

Just so you know the original was part of a combiner. I don't recall people being all that crazy about the end result, and while I kind of liked a couple of the bots, I always thought Shinebug was miles better than any of the rest of them. I love mine (although I did custom paint him and add some racing stripes since most Mini's have those).

I got the OSKO because it was cheap and I'd sort of half wanted the original for a long time.

In hindsite the smaller official might have been an even better fit for my collection, but this guy costs $20 (plus shipping).

Pick up an mp g2 bumblebee and paint the head/pretend?

(It'd probably look good in a display, especially if your bumblebee is the new version masterpiece)

Hmm, OS Shinebug seems a bit too big, so I'm thinking the original would fit better (don't care for the rest of those Throttlebots though). Then again, I might pick up the OS version as well (thanks for pointing out Sirtoys still has it) and put him on desk guarding duty.

    Thanks!

I think it came out decent. And yes, having MP-45 as Bumblebee helps differentiate the two.

None of these options look remotely like Goldbug from the toon, IMO.

The Artfeather one is technically the "closest", but he looks Goldbug after being fucked up in an explosion or something.

Guess we just have to wait.

Yep, there is no Goldbug like the cartoon, but I never knew he was there until much later, I knew about him in the comics, so I have my Art Feather Goldbug customized as my comic version, so I accept some differences and the chug style.

Aye, none of these option are particularly accurate, but I've really taken a shine (ho ho) to Toyworlds version. Toon accuracy isn't the be all and end all for me, and Shinebug just ticks the right boxes. Not 100% sure why, but no accounting for taste, right?

Thanks again for the pics and help. :)

Shinebug was a really nice model for that time, now by taking it in hands you can see it's a little bit old in terms of design and articulation. If some 3P would remake it (with cooper alt mode which I really dig) refreshing some parts it would be an instabuy

Me too. He looks decent enough and somehow fits with my S3 (a mix of CHUG, CHUGsterpiece and MP) bots, but he's no Masterpiece at all. Since I don't care much about those characters I'm ok with this solution.

For some time I've had the idea of getting that golden TW Bii and see how the Beelzeboss head looks on him. But I've never had the chance to buy one...
