^ I'll give it one more try. Told the wife about it. Kinda reminds me of how the wife describes Fruits basket. Can't get into at all either. ------------------- Biggest anime trope talking about anime tropes. Top 8 Anime Tropes I Can't Stand! | ScrewAttack.com
...my GOD that was one annoying reviewer. As for the topic at hand, I thought Madoka was a great series but I still have yet to follow up by watching any of the other media related to it. I went in to the show not really knowing what to expect and by the end I was all kinds of wtf'd at it. Very good series and I really should rewatch it sometime. Also, shouldn't this be in the TV & Movie forum as that seems to be the place to discuss anime.
Never heard of it. My old Anime Club in eventually would just play Halo, maybe since some of the stuff was not suitable for view, so I missed out on Guren Lagen, Fate Stay, newer Eva series......
It's a deconstruction of the Magical Girl genre, so it's going to seem troperific at first. It's the same with how Evangelion is like a deconstruction of the Mecha genre. Don't worry though. Unlike Evangelion, Madoka Magica doesn't give people WTF induced headaches. DEFINITELY follow up on the anime with Movie 3: Rebellion. Takes place after the anime and cannot be missed whatsoever. As for me, I think my user title says it all.
You definitely need to wait till episode 3 before deciding if you want to watch more. That's when everything changes
I tried watching number 3 but the way it at least appears to have a totally different continuity from the anime throws me off are you sure it wouldn't be better to watch the movies in order?
I watched the series and loved it but havent followed up on anything else. Love that that opening luls you into a false sense of security then episode 3 hits.
As long as you've watched the show, you don't need to watch Beginning and Eternal. Rebellion starts off confusing, but all the hints fall into place before too long. To say anything else would be a spoiler.
Pretty much this. The first 2 movies are nothing but recaps of the anime. Movie 3 is the true sequel, so don't bother with them.
I was very near to buying Rebellion, but now that I know they are doing dubs....... I think I'll wait.
About time they got around to dubbing the films. I really want to see how Cristina Vee voices Homura in Rebellion. It has the potential to become one of the best dub performances ever if directed right.
The first 2 movies will be dubbed and out by July. Rebellion is currently an unknown but it wouldn't surprise me if we were to receive an announcement later on in the year for a 2015 release. Or heck, maybe they are dubbing Rebellion in secret as well and aiming for a release for during the Xmas period? THAT would certainly bring them in some serious dosh and would be stupid to not capitalize on such an opportunity.
