He was originally. But these days the kids don't want a toy camera so he doesn't get much exposure.
The upcoming Power of the Primes toyline has toys called Prime Masters that are basically little Pretenders.

Yeah, but they kinda sucked if we're being honest. The shells hardly had any articulation. So this time around they're selling them for 5 bucks so they don't become a huge part of the line and flop again.

I've never done a preorder so I can't help you there. I always end up buying online when it's actually in stock.

Typically, yes, but every site has their own preorder terms and its best to read them before ordering.

Masterpiece coins are just a little bonus when you buy the MP figures in certain markets.

I buy what looks cool to me, I'm mostly building a Classics collection.

Storage? I just keep my figures on regular old shelves and move them in tubs when I need to. I know there are much more professional ways to do it, though. ;)

What state do you live in? Heavily populated area? Good possibility there's a comic book and/or toy convention within a few hours of you. Conventions are pretty great places to meet other fans and buy a wide variety of toys both old and new, and you get to see and touch them before handing over the money.

I keep all my boxes, but lots of people throw them out too. There's no general consensus.

I keep the boxes and store the figures inside when I don't have them out. Whether you want to do that or not will depend on how much space you have for storage.

Personally I don't feel as though the boxes themselves really hold any value past the figures being "new-in-box", but, I suppose it could be handy to keep them if you ever intend on selling the figures at a later date. But don't bank on it too much. Used figures sell all the time without their boxes so long as the toy itself is kept in good condition. However, even if you do collapse the cardboard you still have to find somewhere to store all those plastic bubbles.

No worries. There are so many versions of Transformers that there really are no rules. It's up to each collector to make their own choices. I think there's a guy on here who only buys Ultra Magnus toys and nothing else!
