I dunno if anyone else is like me, but with all these photos from the TF3 shoot coming in, I can't help looking at some of them and thinking wow, that'll make a great toy.

Anyway, I know it's very premature, but since it's on my mind, lets take look at the toy prospects for TF3. Some things are pretty close to a dead cert. There's no way they won't end up as toys. Others may only be brief cameos, and there's no guarantee Hasbro will make anything of them.

For starters:

Retooled HA Bumblebee.
Retooled deluxe Bumblebee
Deluxe Datsun Bumblebee ?
Deluxe Ferrari
Deluxe Sideswipe (retool? new mold?)
Deluxe Skids with Mudflap retool
Stealth Force Nascars.


So, what do you see them definitely doing, what do you hope they will do, and what are you most looking forward to?

 

The only things i am looking forward to from Tf3 line are the Red Ferrari ,and Primes Trailer (if they make it) only if it attatches to ROTF leader Prime.

EDIT/how did i forget about SHOCKWAVE.

 

Mostly I dread the Transformers 3 movie line because I've got a bad feeling the Generations line will get axed for another period of just movie toys.

But then there is always the chance of some really cool hybrid figure we weren't expecting like Lockdown or Seaspray so I'm holding out some hope that maybe some really nice looking robots might come out of the off screen stuff that always seems to come with the movie lines. It seems like Hasbro just keeps getting better and better with the hybrids.

 

I'm dreading the TF3 toyline as it will take all my money.

 

I struggle to imagine how you can make a better Optimus Prime toy than ROTF leader Prime, or a better Starscream than ROTF leader SS. I'd imagine we'll see those molds again, hopefully tricked out with accessories and awesome paintjobs. HA Bumblebee will certainly make another appearance, and I'd imagine a good number of the offscreen molds too.

Either way, I'm looking forward to it. I'm guessing there'll be a reboot after TF3, so this may be the last line in this particular style... which, while unpopular with some vocal fans, has certainly been extremely popular with the general public. And me.  

 

These are the figures that I'm sure Hasbro will come out with for the TF3 line:

Leader Optimus Prime -- they said they're making changes to his robot design, so they may very well come out with a new Leader figure that reflects those changes as well as releasing him with his trailer (or the trailer is sold separately)

Deluxe Bumblebee -- An inevitable repaint/retool of his new look, as far as the Camaro is concerned. I'm still not convinced that he downgrades into that 70s Datsun.

Deluxe Skids and Mudflap -- Repaints to reflect their new looks in TF3
Deluxe Sideswipe -- Retool to reflect his new look in TF3
Deluxe Ferrari Bot -- Whoever he is, he's sure to get a figure
Deluxe Jolt -- If he's been changed to that bluish Mercedes, then he'll have a new figure

Deluxe NASCARs -- If it's true that the NASCAR guys we saw on set in Chicago are going transform into robots, particularly Decepticons since they were heavily armed, then all three of them deserve their own Deluxe figure (as well as a Stealth Force toy)

Deluxe Decepticon SUV -- Having seen pics of a SUV branded a Decepticon, and if it's true that it's a new character, then there has to be a Deluxe figure of him... probably a repaint/retool of the Stockade/Gears mold

Voyager Ratchet -- Repaint/retool
Voyager Ironhide -- Maybe a slight retool if he undergoes any changes in design in TF3

Of course, definitely a figure of Shockwave, be it Voyager or Leader. And if Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave are returning, then they're most likely going to get new figures as well.

And maybe they'll come out with repaints/retools of the HA Autobot figures -- Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Skids and Mudflap. BB could have a new Sam figure, Sideswipe could have a new Epps figure, Mudflap could have a new Simmons figure (if Simmons is returning in TF3), and Skids could have, instead of Mikaela, a figure of Rosie's character. Naturally, I would also like to see a HA Ferrari Bot and a HA Jolt.

I think that's about it as far as what toys I would expect to be made for TF3.

 

I'm looking forward to some new characters, especially the ferarri. But I'm also glad the Movie 3 toyline is a year off...we still have time for several waves of awesome Genrations toys before then.

 

I really am looking forward to a new Supreme Optimus with a retooled Leader figure and his trailer. I really don't want a Voyager Prime and his trailer and Hasbro just slaps the Leader label on it. I'd gladly shell out the money for a new Prime with trailer as long as it is $100 or under.

Also want a new Leader Megatron, and one that is actually worthy of the name. I want a Megs for TF3 that is like the Leader Prime was for ROTF.

And for my last Leader figure, I want Ironhide. No figure Hasbro has made has done this guy justice, and it is time one did. Throw in some electronic cannons, and good transformation, and as little kibble as possible, and I'm happy.

As for Voyagers, I would really like Ratchet to get a new, less blocky mold. I am living with the Deluxe as my default Ratchet right now, but a new Voyager would be nice.

Deluxes are the main interest for me in the line, minus Prime w/ trailer. I want Sideswipe to get a new mold, bith better swords and feet like the new Sidearm Sideswipe, so standing isn't so damn hard. Of course I want Rodimu......errr.....Ferrari to have a new mold.Don't care about Bee right now, since I am very happy with BBBB right now. Last for this list, and want the Nascar trio. One in each wave would do, so we would have the entire trio by wave three.

Im looking forward to it immensely   I really am hoping for a Leader Shockwave (even a voyager would be ok with me actually). I hope a new Soundwave figure comes as either a voyager version of his Cybertronian form, or a Voyager or Deluxe Earth form version. If Prime is redone and is significantly better than the ROTF Leader AND comes with his trailer, i will buy him. They must certainly be making a new Megatron, and i have hope for him! Im really excited for the the Ferrari-bot and the Nascar cars. Overall, im highly anticipating good things!!

 

Leader Shockwave's all I care about

 

I'm eagerly awaiting any new molds for existing characters they may do or any mold improvements. Also wanna see what non-screen characters they'll do.

 

Not sure yet but weirdly my wife who doesn't collect Transformers is more excited. She is a Dale Jr. fan and since I showed her the picture of the 88 Dale Jr possible Stunticon, I have been informed I will be picking up every version of that Transformer. She even said she wants one of "the bigger ones that come with the figure" or the HA figures so she could have a Dale Jr Nascar Transformer that comes with Dale Jr. She would also like the Jimmy Johnson one to just so she could run over the Jimmy Johnson figure...over and over again.

 

I really do like the movie toys but I am Anticipating a break from them for a bit. I do like them tho Im not hatein.

 

You guys left out the obvious Legends repaints, and new figures, I mean for ROTF we have got a ton of new figures and 2 completely different molds for a couple of characters.

Also the off screen characters will be there perhaps repaints/retools of the older off screen toys, maybe a crazy colored ejector.

I'm not sure if they would make a leader Shockwave, his name isn't in the movie and the Fallen's was he didn't get any higher than a Voyager.

Prime's trailer I doubt will be released above a Voyager, unless it is an exclusive some where or requires assembly that would be alot of shelf space.

A deluxe version would be neat as well.

I know we all love it but parents are only going to pay so much for a rolling box unless it folds out into something amazing, even then playsets don't do particularly well.

 

I'm presuming we don't need to mark "spoilers" (character names and descriptions) below. So this is your warning, reader.

Oh c'mon, man. Hasbro has repeatedly done "CHUG" every time they've had a filler line to, uh, fill for four years now. It's obvious that the designers LOVE doing these and they aren't going away anytime in the near future.

Also, in a twisted way I kinda like that they aren't spamming the market with a redo of every last G1 character over a full many-month line. Makes it a little more exciting, and gives them time and budget to give the overall meta-line a wider variety of molds.

Anyway, I disagree with some of the pessimistic posts here that have practically every character as a repaint or retool of an existing mold (some from TF1!). There are fewer new characters in this movie than in RotF, or so the word is.

I wouldn't be surprised at new molds for all of the film's prominent Autobots, except for Jolt. Everyone else got a new look, sometimes a BIG change. As for Ironhide...well, dammit, he really needs a new Voyager mold (and I'm hoping Ratchet gets one too). Leader is too big and, honestly, would just screw over Shockwave or Silverbolt. I'd rather see a Leader Soundwave than a Leader Ironhide, assuming he has something to do in this movie.

Suffice it to say, I hope Megatron, Shockwave, and Silverbolt get new Leader class toys. Perhaps OP will as well, but I wonder if this will happen instead:

Retooled RotF Leader mold as Leader
Battle Blades Prime redeco + trailer at special "giftset" pricepoint
"Supreme" or unique price point: new mold with trailer. TONS of gimmicks, either beloved or loathed by "serious" collectors depending on the approach.

Never underestimate Takara's and Hasbro's willingness to make a new Optimus Prime, and release several versions in the same toyline. He is the Big Character of the whole franchise.

I'm hoping we'll see a new Megatron Voyager as well, but I'm not counting on it. I DO expect to see a new Voyager Starscream. Obviously if Shockwave and Silverbolt don't get Leaders then they'll be in this class. Voyager line will likely be fleshed out with redecos of Long Haul, Mixmaster, Demolishor, etc.

Deluxes are easy to guess: we are seeing them on the streets of Chicago. The "Stunticons" will no doubt be fun. I don't know if we will see their robot modes in the film, which should let Takara be creative with them. I'm kind of expecting the Ferrari to be damn popular, sort of like Sideswipe was last time. Sideswipe has two molds already, and now he's a convertible? New mold. We also have a mysterious purple car (assuming it's a Transformer) and a Decepticon SUV. Wild guess: the brand new Decepticon SUV character has not been reverse engineered from a medicore TF1 filler toy.

 

Soundwave needs a voyager class toy. I'm also not buying any Ironhide or Ratchet unless they are fully new voyager sculpts and painted. And I would hope Shockwave won't be below voyager.

 

For a movie line, Hasbro should concentrate on selling toys that actually appeared in the movie. Many mothers will not buy toys that never appeared in the movie to save money. Sales should increase if Hasbro makes more toys that actually appeared in the movie.
In TF2, Hasbro seems to have forgotten to make a deluxe/voyager Scrapper who did appear in the movie chasing Sam and Mikaela. They also did not make a robot deluxe/voyager Overload and Hightower. The Legends Devastator was too small and being a Walmart exclusive caused it to be hard to find. ToysRUs tends to keep exclusives on the shelves longer. Hasbro should stop doing Walmart exclusives bec. Walmart exclusives tend to disappear in just 1 week and never comes back. I am happier with my Oversized Devastator Knockoff. I just don't understand why so many deluxe jets and helicopters not in the movie were made and they could not even make a single deluxe Scrapper robot.
If Shockwave is the main villain in TF3, they should make at least a Leader Shockwave.
Hasbro should stop doing exclusives so customers can easily find the toys.
I hope there will be less distribution problems in TF3 bec. I have not been able to see a deluxe Red Rampage yet or a Human Alliance Mudflap. Customers will obviously be lost easily if they can't even find the toys. I hope Hasbro is serious about keeping customers that were gained by the 3 popular movies.

 

I'm super excited for the tf3 mold but with the leaders and voyager molds mostly bcuz they comprise the bulk of my tf movie collection
