I wonder what's going to happen to the anti-virus program so aptly named after him? That's what I wanna know.

Some hacker's going to code a virus called "bath_saltz" that McAffe is entirely powerless against.

But seriously? Probably nothing, he sold his share in the company a long time ago, IIRC, and the name probably has enough brand equity to survive even it's namesake's descent into madness.

I wouldn't be surprised seeing the company change names though, just to avoid the association.

Not totally unprecedented in the computer tech community. Hans Reiser, the creator and primary developer of the ReiserFS computer file system (once thought to become the default for Linux--a big deal in some circles) was convicted of murder some time ago.

How deceitful addiction is, the way he made posts was like it was something he could control. Whatever high they get they spend the rest of their lives trying to exceed it. Like a dog chasing it's tail, donkey with a carrot... etc. We all have that to some degree though.

He never really wrote much of the code, just spearheaded the project, and like I said, he's been removed from actual software development (and more recently, the company itself) for a long, long time.

Framing? I dunno man, he's been leading an increasingly sketchy existence, associating with known criminals in Belize, and getting more and more erratic and aggressive in his behavior towards people. There's motive, means, and opportunity, and if McAffe is on the run, he could be trying to escape arrest, which is why many people say he's in Belize in the first place.

He was never a guardian. A renegade, in it for the money. Truly, a "user", even of his own kind.

Doubt it. He's no longer a part of the company. I'm sure with any more news regarding this, there may be some kind of statement released by McAfee (the company) to further distance themselves from him.

Like I said, it wouldn't surprise me to see the company change their name, but that would be about the extent of it.
