MODOK is going to be so cringey.
ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA - Kang The Conquerer Sits On His Time Chair Throne In New Photo
The original design for comparison.
The MCU version looks like a cool enough update. It's got rings, and it's wide enough for a backseat.
Ant-Man has been quite an underdog in the MCU so far, what with his shrinking/phasing abilities being able to take him through time and space. And all he started out with were ants!
This film looks like it'll be quite a space/time adventure. The trailers have maybe revealed more than they should, but it looks like it should be a major game-changer not just for Scott and his friends but for the whole MCU.
Looking forward to this one. I’ve been eagerly awaiting Kang since the season finale of Loki. The only thing that’s been bugging me about the trailers is that the film is called “Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania” and there has been a severely lack of presence from the Wasp so far. Where is Evangeline Lilly?
There was a social media controversy with Lily I believe over a year ago, that might factor into the marketing.
So the entire script apparently got leaked; I’m not going to read it, but if anybody is, can you let me know if there’s anything MCU that is required viewing for this besides Loki season 1 (and the prev Ant-Man movies)? I have some friends who wanna see it and I let them know to watch Loki, but just in case there’s anything else.
Endgame obviously since Scott mentions missing time. And then for endgame you really gotta watch everything before that...so they need to watch everything. And no I didnt read the script
While the script leak may have been taken down, it corroberates the leak from 3 months ago!
Do not read if you do not want to be spoiled
Spoiler: Plot spoilers
Spoiler: Don’t say I didn’t warn you
Janet will be running from Quantum Realm aliens when she meets Kang.
There's a montage of Scott narrating his life via an excerpt from his book "Looking Out For the Little Guy".
Scott talks about how happy he was to meet a raccoon that could talk, and says he's friends with the Hulk.
Talking about future adventures, Scott says that for the moment he's just focused on being a dad.
Scott and Cassie reconnecting is a big part of the movie.
Scott/Cassie and Hope/Hank/Janet are separated into two groups after getting sucked into the Quantum Realm by Cassie's device.
Scott tries to calm Cassie down by saying being in the Quantum Realm is just like camping.
We see a whole civilization living in the Quantum Realm.
We see Hank and Janet surfing Giant Flying Stingrays.
There's a Quantum Realm Cantina bar with a bug man bartender.
Bill Murray's Krylar is a Quantum Realm aristocrat who's hinted to have had a fling with Janet while she was stuck there.
Some buildings appear to be alive in the Quantum Realm.
MODOK's described as a Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing. He's a big Corey Stoll head.
We get to know Kang's backstory.
Janet and Kang were both trapped in the Quantum Realm together in the past. He has a ship that can travel the multiverse. Janet and he were fixing it. He wanted to help her "fix time" so she could get her time back with Hope.
Janet discovered he was evil via a neural connection he has with his ship. After confronting him and confirming his nature, she destroyed the equipment that made his ship work and trapped them both deeper in the Quantum Realm. Kang has been The Conqueror ever since. He's been looking for Janet for revenge.
Kang tells Scott he has beaten the Avengers several times.
Kang asks him if he's the one with the hammer, and Scott makes a joke about people confusing him with Thor all the time.
He wants Scott to help him get out of the Quantum Realm and says they should work together.
Kang claims to be the only one who can stop what's coming. When Scott asks what that is, Kang simply says "Me".
He is not blue but has lines on his face.
Scott gets into the Quantum Nexus, where he meets several different versions of himself.
There's a Scott who's just a Baskin Robbins employee in his universe and doesn't understand what's going on.
Scott works with his multiversal selves against MODOK.
Scott has an emotional moment with Cassie, saying he messed up a lot in his life, but she was the only thing he never did. He promises Cassie he'll get her home.
Corey Stoll's doing a voice for MODOK.
There's a running joke about everyone calling MODOK "Darren" and him hating it.
Janet calls Kang by his name, Nathan.
Kang tells Janet that she gave him a lot of time to plot his revenge by leaving him stranded in the Quantum Realm. He tells her that when he leaves, the first universe he'll claim will be hers.
Kang reveals he's built an empire and says he'll take it with him to conquer all the universes.
Scott gets an all-black suit.
Hope has "lightsaber" wings.
Both black suits have red and yellow accents, respectively.
The final battle is huge and reminds of the final battle from Aquaman, with all of its moving pieces.
We see Giant Cassie fighting MODOK. She tries to talk him into switching sides.
Giant Scott and Giant Cassie run to each other for a hug. He jokes about it feeling like he's hugging Godzilla.
Kang has a standoff with Scott, Hope, and Cassie.
Hank flies in with a legion of battle-armored ants and they attack Kang. He manages to hold them off with his powers. MODOK also shows up to help.
Kang fatally injures MODOK. The family goes to MODOK's side as he dies. He rubs his tiny hand on Scott's cheek.
There's an emotional moment where MODOK says Cassie was right about him and that he at least died an Avenger. Scott says he did a good job and agrees.
Kang survived the fight and stops Scott just as they are all going back to their universe. Janet, Hank, Cassie, and Hope escape. Kang beats the shit out of Scott. Hope comes back for him. They almost manage to trap Kang in the Quantum Realm, but he escapes and traps Scott and Hope inside.
Hank guarantees Janet and Cassie that they'll find them.
At the end of the movie, Hope and Scott look out at the Quantum Realm. Hope says to Scott that their family will be okay and that they have to trust them to find the duo. She says Cassie will know what to do.
The next scene's sometime later. Cassie's running all kinds of programs on different computers. She's staring at the screen. Sees something. Her eyes go wide and she gasps. Cut to black.
I’m officially on board with this version of MODOK.
I just want to commend your commitment to spoilers...
Funny thing, I almost didn't read it after the first warning, let alone the second. Lol
I stopped halfway down. That just sounds amazing and engaging. Definitely liking this.
Well, besides Endgame as that’s such a given I didn’t even mention it. My friends saw that with me.
@Purple Heart can you list just the titles of films/shows you think are required viewing in a spoiler tag going off what you’re reading? Just the titles and nothing else. I would really appreciate it.
Antman: Reason due to character introductions, including Darren Cross who also returns in this film so its best to know who he is too.
Antman & The Wasp: Wasp debuts, Janet Van Dyne introduction and Quantum Realm foreshadowing
Infinity War and Endgame: Because of what Antman does and explains the time jump
Loki Season 1: Foreshadows and explains why Kang is a threat.
it seems like Modok isn't actually Darren though. Unless the Quantum realm fried his brain?
Okay perfect, thank you.
New featurette has been released with some new footage
Clip at the end was featured in my info dump here.
They are actually going to sell Scott's memoirs xD
No Luis in this movie?
Iron Man dies btw
