I was thinking: if Sector Seven had and studied Megatron for so many years, resulting in technological advance, how did they never discovered the Transformium? But KSI discovered it in mere 3 years or less?
That and they kept Megatron frozen and as intact as possible to reverse engineer technology I don't think the melting him down thing was part of their research. He was all they had, once they had cybertronian garbage laying all around everywhere I assume that's when they got to melting them to see what they were made out of.
They said in the movie they were learning Cybertronian science directly from Megatron's brain using Brains to translate. They didn't have the information to build them until they got the brain.
I got your point. But, I mean, they got a giant alien robot, I thought it would make sense to them to take a piece of his metal and examine it, to see if they find something new. Megatron of course has a lot of metal and some grams of it (maybe) would make a difference to him. I mean discover the metal, not discover how to build a robot.
