Soundwave Sky Shadow Wing Saber Still missing: Swindle, Swerve and all Mini-Con two-packs. EDIT: I think the page for Trans-Mutate is new too.
Hmmm... I am looking soooo forward to Soundwave, but the bio I can do without. As one of my fav Gen1, I always liked him as the loyal, second-in-command, not this two faced, stab you in the back kind of guy. That position is filled by Starscream and Sideways. And Wingsaber still has no wing sabers, but I'm pretty sure that is has been confirmed that the US version come with them. Just lazy picture taking.
It's an interesing bio, but the toy is still a repaint. I'd rather we get Menasor sooner and save the repaints for the end of the line. Oh well.
Really, I had no idea... IMO, if hasbro is using his likeness, using his name, using his little bird friend, they would continue to use the same type of personality. What is the point of a homage, if they are going change it. Call him something else if it doesn't 'complete' the homage. For example, we all know who Starscreme is, and with the exception of Energon, he was a power-hungry follower of Megatron, who would take any opportunity to kill Megs or overthrow him. Would any of us accept Starscreme as anything but that? Why is Soundwave different?
that's pretty cool that Sky Shadow is Jetfire in disguise ~ to bad the couldn't have molded some kind of "flip" symbol onto him or something so he could change sides plus kind of funny that he's (iirc) the first repaint that really is officially a repaint
Armada Starscream. Not power hungry, and had a lot of respect for Megatron and the Decepticon cause. Ultimately, he wanted only what was best for the Decepticons as a whole, but he did not want to have to overthrow Megatron to do it unless absolutely necessary. Strangely enough he is also one of the most liked Starscreams, as well as being the most divergant from the original. Also, reading this bio, there's nothing in there that would contradict the original Soundwave that much, either. He's different, and presented as more of a tactician, but the original could have been too, had someone other than Megatron been leader. See, for example, the Japanese TF G1 game. Soundwave there has some similarities with the Soundwave presented here - in the game, he uses some subtle plotting to eliminate his enemies, but he is still G1 Soundwave. Ultimately though if you don't like it that's your call. Just remember the bio isn't gospel, and the first line of the bio gives you a get out clause - Soundwave is just one of his many names. On another note, I love Sky Shadow's bio. Clever explanation of why he's a repaint, as well as fitting in with the personality of the character. I wonder what his Cyber Key bio will be?
In Armada as I remember, he was kind of power hungry. He resented Megatron for taking over the starsaber and he then left to join the Autobots. Sure this may not be the actions of the gen1 screamer, but in the end it showed that he was against Megatron and his actions as leader. Now I could go back and watch the tapped eps that I have, but really do I want to do that to myself???
Sol Fury already summed it up, but still: Armada Screamer was loyal to Megs and especially loyal to the Decepticon cause. The only reason he defected to the Autobots in the first place was because no matter how hard he tried, Megatron was never satisfied and kept treating Starscream with abuse. Starscream returned to Megatron as soon as he found a new way to truly impress him. And then he realized what a threat Unicron actually was, and tried to convince Megatron to side up with the Autobots to fight him. When Megatron wouldn't listen, Starscream sacrificed his life in order to make his ignorant leader finally open his eyes. In the end, Armada Starscream was loyal enough to not try and usurp his leader's position - the only reason he ever disobeyed orders was because he wasn't so stupid to put blind loyalty over common sense.
Cool to see Soundwave and Wing Saber on the site. (Sky Shadow really doesnt interest me at all), guess this means they'll be in stores soon! And I'm pretty sure the Transmutate profile has been there for a while now...
Hmmm... I have obviously not followed the series as closely as I first thought. Regardless of Starsceams loyalty, am I alone in the thought that Soundwave should not be a scheming, stab you in the back character? What is he like in GF? I do not agree that he was disloyal to Megatron in gen 1. I think as far as a decepticon he was one of the most loyal, but almost emotionless, more calculating. For example, if he wanted to kill someone, he would do it in the most efficient way just to get the job done properly. I don't think it would bring him much pleasure, as it would to Starscream or Megs. I am not a star Trek fan, but I would equate him to an evil Spock. Yes/no?
The best portrayal of G1 Soundwave ever was in "Space Pirates". I mean, everyone keeps insisting cartoon Soundwave was one bad mofo of a character. HE HAS NO CHARACTER! If there ever was a "most loyal follower of Megatron" contest between cartoon Soundwave and cartoon Shockwave, there wouldn't be a winner because neither had the ambition to win.
Wing Saber's intro reminds me of the theater summaries of "Broke Back mountain". LOL. The powerlinx battles adds to the fact. (I know none of the above was intentional but still its funny to think about). LOL. back to the 18 credit college schedule...GRRR!!
