Hey All,

I picked up the recent Hegemon piece. I'm okay with it...glad I got it as it is the best Megs we've had so far from where I sit, but I do wish he was scaled better with MP10.

As I was thinking about it the other day, I seem to recall mention of a different 3rd Party Megs at the time Hegemon was announced. Does anybody else remember that/have information on it or am I having some sort of brain glitch?

Hegemon didn't do it for me either. I hope that Darkness Emperor is still on. If that's the figure in the promo, it looks better proportioned.

 

Hegemon works real well for me. I heard that dark emperor was scrapped and the Boldtoys version is tiny scale. Loving my Hegemon. It's in top 4 of my 3rd party purchases this year!

 

^ iGear's PP02 Horror Monarch was scrapped. I haven't heard anything about LianToys's Darkness Emperor being dropped though (haven't heard anything at all about him after his initial teaser announcement, actually). Hegemon is cool and all but doesn't scratch my MP-level Megatron fix.

 

I was waiting for a non-handgun Megatron, like the proposed ones that turn into a Cobra tank, or maybe the Hearts of Steel self-propelled cannon.

 

I'm good with Hegemon. Only other 3rd Party Megatron I'll ever get is an IDW version.

 

I tried to tell people about that Darkness Emperor, but it kind of got lost in the shuffle of everything else. But that /toy/ thread was the only mention ever of LianToys or that particular project anywhere on the internet (other than places citing the /toy/ thread as a source), and since I spend an inordinate amount of time on /toy/, I was there for that thread, and at least from my perspective, it was pretty obvious that it was a joke.

 

Don't get me wrong, I like Hegemon....

For a classics Megs I'm very satisfied with him...where I'm frustrated is in the fact that he really isn't in scale with any Prime. Admittedly, I don't have I-Gear's PP01, but based on what has been said about that figure, he seems to be closest in scale with Hegemon. Might have to break down and get one of them.

 

I like Hegemon's size with Henkei Prime. He's taller, but it doesn't look out of place at all to me.

 

That image of Darkness Emperor looks NICE. The only Megatron I have in my collection is a reissue G1. I'm waiting for either Takara to deliver or for a 3rd party to hit a home run with this guy.

 

Don't see how Darkness Emperor is obviously a joke. It's common for third parties to do these silhouette teaser reveals and then silence for months on end, it seems. Nothing to prove or disprove it one way or the other.

As for PP01 Faith Leader, he's too big even for Hegemon. PP01 is the same height as an MP Seeker, if that's any indication, meaning he's roughly Ultra size. Hegemon is a solid Voyager in height, which is smaller than Ultra.

Toy World hinted (with a silhouette teaser) at an IDW-style Optimus Prime that will scale better with their Hegemon. Classics OP (small by Voyager standards) seems shrimpier than usual next to Hegemon, IMHO.

 

You have to wonder of Takara will do a new MP Megs to go beside MP10...I suppose one can hope.

 

A new MP Megs will eventually happen. However, I doubt they need to rush in on it due the demand for other figures. They can afford to hold off and cash in later.

 

was trying to find the original thread for these the other day when the stealth bomber megatron thread was started , really hope this project is still happening! as for darkness emperor from the tease it looks like its going to be a proper g1 megs

 

It's been 6-7 months since Boldtoys showed their prototype of Megatron with NO news since. I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that it's never coming out. I advise Boldtoys to cut their losses and just sell the mold to another 3rd party.
