Some of you may recall that I was the one that commissioned the RiD Windblade to Anode conversion kit from Steamshield, who generously designed it on the house. Well, I've finally gotten around to preparing to make my own damn Anode, as well as a Lug using Trentulas's shapeways head for TR Rewind/Rumble.

All the prep work has been done. The parts have been sanded down so they fit properly, and have been washed with dish soap and water. (Gonna have to repeat that final step once I hopefully secure a Rewind in the near future, but I'm not waiting until then to start.) I've also done some additional plastic surgery in order to make the robot mode's shoulders and the plane mode's tail more accurate to the source material:

Next step is to reassemble the parts one more time to make sure everything is ready to be painted. Stay tuned....

Edit: Anode is done! Well, mostly. Alt-mode paint job needs to be touched up a bit, but for a first time effort, I'm amazed at how good it looks.

Edit 2: And now Lug has officially joined her girlfriend on my shelves.

Im pretty sure stop light red is glossy, metallic, and slightly transparent. You'd probably want a straight semi gloss red.

Wow, it's been two months since I made this thread? Well, life got in the way. But I'm stuck at home on account of COVID-19, so I'm fully committed to finishing this project.

I ultimately decided against using an airbrush, so what you see is all hand-painted. Tomorrow, I'll hopefully finish Anode, and possibly start on Lug. (Also, don't mind the poor lighting. This was taken in the garage after sunset. It looks way better in real life.)

RiD Windblade. A fantastic little mold that so much of the fanbase has been sleeping on, due to it being an RiD toy and having originally been released with an eye searing color scheme.

Sharpie it up or add a little black paint, though, and it's a better match to the way she was drawn in most of her appearances starting with her first miniseries, than either Generations toy. Particularly in alt mode:

But early on, I also recognized her potential to be converted into Anode (and possibly other female bots). I wasn't alone, it seems, cause there's actually another windblade custom using this mold that proceeded the creation of this shapeways kit.

Since this kit released, though, it looks like multiple other people have been using it (or at least the head) to make their own Anode's. I'm so enthused to have been a part of this, even if all I did was suggest making the conversion kit to Steamshield. (And I was gonna pay him to design it too! He doesn't take paid commissions, though, so he designed it for me on the house, bless his heart.)

And, we're done! As with Anode, there's some minor stuff on Lug I may touch up in the future. But as far as TFW2005 is concerned, this project is officially complete. I am now one of a very small number of Lost Light fans with these two fembots in my real-life collection. Definitely worth the time and money, I would say.
