I'm in Warren, too. I took my two year old son out today looking for Rodimus or new PCC's but to no avail.

Well, for anyone who's willing to pay well over what they're worth, scalpers have dropped prices ever so slightly on eBay lol.. If anyone on eBay that was going to buy these things were smart, they'd say screw the hasbro version and drop $30 on the much nicer takara version and even would save about $10 at that lol.. Oh well..

Some people don't like the Takara versions. Some people, who have collected most of the American line, would much rather have figures that don't stick out like sore thumbs because of random shiney paint applications and fit in with the flat cartoon-look of the rest of the line.

This. Blackout is the only Takara figure I have so far and he blends in quite nicely.
I just secured a roddy and ironhide so now I just need thundercracker and wing blade prime to be happy, anything else is a bonus but I'll be passing on most of the repaints. Still undecided on submariner Bumblebee.

Mostly because he doesn't have any super shiney paint, just regular silver paint and some red in place of the reddish-orange. He'll be the only Takara Animated figure I own unless BB and Prime don't get released.

I know I'll be getting him because Bumblebee himself looks great. His jetpack or whatever is okay. I'll probably display it next to him. Unfortunately the Takara version also has the shiney paint. Wingblade Prime has it worse, though. He's got random translucent parts AND random shiney parts.

Arcee doesn't have the shiny paint either, which is odd. Don't know why most have it and a select few don't.

I'd love to get the Hasbro Rodimus, but being in the UK means I'll never see it locally. I'm probably better off ordering the Takara version straight from Japan.

GOOD. That hopefully means things won't be quite as imbalanced as they were with Ratchet & Arcee.

Armorhide - Transformers Animated (Japan) - Transformers Resources
Hot Rodimus - Transformers Animated (Japan) - Transformers Resources

Armorhide (Japanese Ironhide) features some metallic finishing on his chest and shoulders, which IMO clashes a bit too much with the rest of the toy, at least in that early version shown at the Tokyo Toy Show. I'm gunning for a US one.

Rodimus though is a true beauty. The maroon on him is a shiny finish and looks much closer to how he was in the old 1980s TV show than the US version. I know this isn't meant to be Generation 1 Hot Rod but quite honestly the colours look badass so I'm not complaining. That one I'm going Takara-Tomy for.
