I had a thought today that since we're actually getting two very different Megatron designs, for at least 3 figures if not more, of Cybertron and Earth Mode Megatron, as well as a brief synopsis of the supposed first 29 episodes, I'm wondering if Animated will finally break the curse of Megatron changing his name to Galvatron because he changed colors.

Don't get me wrong, I like Galvatron, and I love the concept, but it's been so over used it's not funny, especially as a non-mold changed repaint and the constant name flipping. It also seems to be a predominately American idea as well, as in the last 4 series it only happened once overseas. Japan's CR (RiD) It was Gigatron, not Megatron, a completely different character, in Micron Legend (Armada) Megatron became Super Megatron followed finally by Superlink (Energon) finally to Galvatron for a new figure then to Galvatron G. Only Galaxy Force (Cybertron) did the Japanese actually use the repaint Megatron to be Galvatron idea in recent lines.

We've been told that part of it is copyright, that they don't want to lose the name by not using it. We're getting a use of the name in Classics and they've recently used it, it should be safe for Hasbro not to use it in Animated.

I'm wondering if with the style and pacing of Animated if there won't be a Megatron gets a new paint job and decided to call himself something new given that Megatron is bodiless for part of the series then gets the Helibody counts as a change for the character. Now, I'm not saying that Galvatron can't appear, but if it does I'm hoping that it's a new mold entirely. I'd also be just fine with it as a seperate characters, as the recent IDW series is making them, but I'm honestly really tired of the repaint Megatron to get Galvatron.

Rather ironically, it strikes me that the ANIMATED Cybertron Megatron mold would actually make a good Galvatron redeco and slight remolding, with a new cannon and head as well as a classic G1 style paint job would look really slick, but I guess we'll see where Hasbro and the series takes us.

    Thoughts?

If they absolutely, positively have to put Galvatron in, they should make an episode where Optimus is given a vision of the world if the Decepticons get the allspark, and are led by Megatron, who has taken to calling his new body Galvatron. These shows just love the "hero experiences dystopian future" theme.

If he was in, I'd prefer NOT-Megatron Galvatron.
Dunno why but I don't like it when characters get upgrade and rename theirselves for no good reason.

I can tell ya why...it's a lame concept.

Yeah, I'd prefer if we have a Galvatron (which I'd rather us not) that he were a whole new entity.

Or the reverse could be implied. Megatron started out as a bot named Galvatron.

I don't mind it so much to be honest. Little details like name changes mean nothing to me.

I wouldn't hold my breath for an Animated Galvatron.

Remember Botcon? Hasbro said whatever they were doing in Animated, they wouldn't do in Classics, and vice verca. We're getting Galvatron in Classics. So that means he won't be in Animated. At least, not the first 3 or 4 years.

I agree 100%. There is no good reason to change his name.

    Prowl?

Edit: oh yeah, Id be happy if they didn't have Galvatron in the show at all. But if they do have it be a new character not the cliche upgrade.

I hope they break that continuous cycle of Megatron becoming Galvatron. I'm still appreciating having a Prime without a Supermode, it's good to see just a normal Prime. I'd like to keep seeing a normal Megatron. If there is a Galvatron, they could always make him a different character, or have the upgrade happen 3-4 seasons in or something.

I don't think that statement should be taken too literally. We got Bumblebee, Grimlock and Starscream, who are very close to their G1 incarnations. And of course, let's not forget Optimus Prime at the head. Galvatron can show up in season 2 for all we know, and you can take that to the bank.

I hope, if Galvatron DOES show up, he takes a cue form the comics and is a completely separate entity from Megatron. Megatron's already getting an upgrade from head -> full body, no need to take it beyond that.

Agreed, I may use him as a Classics Galavtron until Universe Galavtron is released.

i like the idea of Galvatron as a seperate entity. Maybe he can be like Megatron's superior in a later season-Like Galvatron shows up, and maybe get Megatron and Prime to team up and attempt to take him down, then have Megatron betray and attack Prime once he regains control of the Decepticons.

I mean afterall, Megatron in this series believes himself to be like some sort of hero, with Autobots (in his mind) being the evil one. Maybe if Galvatron is just all out cruel to both Autobot and Decepticon and gets kicked out and nearly destroyed. BB finds him, freaks out, and calls the others. eventually, they decide to help him, but only if he would help them. they make they're small alliance, destroy/take out Galvatron, and then Megatron betrays their alliance and blah blah blah.

but as a seprate character who is even more evil than Megatron who takes over the Decepticons for a while would be cool-especially if he was a Supreme class (or whatever is bigger than leader)

They did say that there would be an exception if the character would be completely different... like the example of Prowl. I think that one main reason they did Prowl for Universe/Classsics 2.0 was that they would have the mold to repaint and reuse if they wanted for other Fairlady Z figures, which was a motivator for them to even make a mold in the first place. To maximize cost effectiveness of the line.

I don't think we'll see Galvatron in these first 2 seasons. I wouldn't have a problem with him in one of the future seasons (end of season 3 at the earliest woudl be good imo). I also wouldn't have a problem with him being a reformated Megatron. Not 100% how they would do it, but Megs could get heavily damaged, some how upgraded, and as a result of his upgrades he turns insane and starts calling himself Galvatron.

The comment was made in regards to Classics 2.0/Universe. It has no bearing on what they've already done with the original Classics line.

And Prowl was already stated as being an exception, because Animated Prowl is totally different from Classics Prowl in both alt mode and character design. Not to mention that they can get another two characters out of the Classics Prowl mold.

Yeah I realize that....but they could be making a bunch of exceptions if they want to milk the Clissics molds for repaints. And Galvatron being a new mold and completely different than Classiverse Galvatron can only be a good thing. (not ripping on Classiverse Galvatron, IMO it looks sweet.)

I should have elaborated, I didn't mean Cybertron Line Galvatron Figure, I meant Animated line Cybertron Form, Megatron figure as Galvatron.

Personally, I think the Cybertron Master Megatron/Galvatron figure is the worst Megatron/Galvatron mold ever.
