Well here is another animated seeker. This time I went with Dirge. He started out as an animated Sunstorm. I moved the wings and added a different style tailfins than we usually see on a G1 Dirge. Also resculpted the head so that he would have his conehead, and shaved down his chin. This time he was painted with Tamiya, a mixture for the blue, Chrome silver, black, and gunmetal. Also the wings are Alclad gold. (I went and bought some different colors of alclad, bronze, copper, and a few others.) The wings didn't come out as shinny as I thought they would. The chrome always seemed to work great. So I gave him an over coat, clear matte to finish him off. With all the mods and paint, he only took me 10 hrs. to get done....yay.

Yeah, the wings really add to the kickassedness (???) of this. Love the head mod too. I'd love to do some animated seekers, but I'm broke, so I gotta wait til they go on clearence.

The wings were probably the easiest I have ever done. Cut and glue then putty and sand away. The head was pretty easy too, beings I have already done it a few times. The first time was a kicker.

But I am glad you like him.

 

Is the cone helmet all putty?

 

Dude, that looks great. I love the resculpted head and the wings. They're just perfect! I really think the colors you chose for the paintjob looks awesome.

 

Yup. 2 part tamiya epoxy putty. Mix, let cure, then sculpt.
Its very durable.

I have to agree with what's been said here. Those wing placements are perfect and I like what you did with the color placements, too. There is one pic you have up that has a bit of red in jet mode just in front of the forward wings. I think it's a part of the gearing from Sunstorm. Would it be possible to paint that to match the Dirge colors more?
