Ok guys, i don't have Ironhide but I did pick up Ratchet so I figured I model out Ironhide. Here are a few pics with more to come. Please enjoy. Also I'd like to ask you guys a question which there will be a pole on... Should I continue doing the animated characters out of toys so that they can eventually transform or should I make them cartoon acurate but obviously in 3-D?
Nice work, I love how the light reflects from the vehicle and the shadow on the floor . In my opinion stay with the toys ,that way you can transform them more accurately to the alt modes and the toy itself. I my self do that with the G1 figures and its fun too. Keep it up...
Well, after your done with ironhide, what bout you do autotrooper and a animated version of Lifeline (A.k.a Energon Towline)
Thanks hotrodISR. Mrsoundmeister, I would but i've lost so much time already. Autotrooper isn't in the plans. I'd like to get my hands on a Rodimus figure. Here is the renders of Ironhide in robot mode. I think the weapons he comes with are dump. make sense for ratchet but not for him so I didn't give him a weapon. hope you guys like the renders.
This is really good, man. What program are you using? I'm learning to use 3DS Max at the moment, its very time consuming but I too hope to try and sculpt some animated characters.
Thanks Venksta Brooticus, I use xsi 7.0. it is time consuming but as you go reading and learning and practice, you get quicker and better. My first character took me 4 months. Now it'll take me less than a week
I would say model your models on toy accuracy, just because those are clear references that you can get extremely precise measurements. XD I'm not sure if you're a student, but I think that would make a good studio project/portfolio piece. Besides, the show accurate characters are pretty round, and I think their joints might be the area that would be most confusing. XD But then again, I don't model much. Ironhide looks great!
wow, this is a really good model! The face though, kinda throws it off. I'm not completely sure why, but i think it looks kinda melty (the eyes and mouth bits). just my 2 cents.
Thanks bro. I'm loving you artwork as well. Really love what you're doing and how each character is so different. Keep it up bro. I got a few of my own coming up as well. Hope they as good as yours or atleast close to it. Thanks man glad you like it. I kept the mouth like that cuz in the series he always has this goofy look to him. Not the scerious Ironhide i'm used to. So it looks like it was close at the begining but it seems you guys like the toy accurate ones better. I might do on that show accurate and do a comparison for you guys. Might do Jazz
Not sure if it's free but I do beleive they have a 30 day free trial. Thats how I got started. Yeah man thanks. I love modeling, though I still need to improve more. People like Venksta and Kurisma, just to name a few, are still light years a head of me
Ooo, you're going to do cartoon accurate ones too? okay i want to see now also, do you think you would try to do the animated twins?
I'm going to try and do Jazz and do a side by side comparison with the toy verision I did. The twins will eventually come and characters that have never been seen before like my TFA Depthcharge that I posted a few days ago. He'll be done in 3-d eventually also.
