You can time travel but the holidays won't be there at all. This means you can't travel to them. At the same time if you want to go back to the holiday again after it's gone can you?

Edit--you can still travel to past holidays and they work. Players in canada are ticked as thanksgiving for them was last month and they may have to wait a year!

I mean... The event is still happening for us here, right? I don't see the problem with it being on America's Thanksgiving date.

I'm in Canada, Turkey day in-game will always be on the last Thursday of November, being based off of USA Thanksgivng.

No player, despite what region they are in, will miss Turkey Day this year. Now, the reason for not being able to see the holidays via time travelling is probably because they are in a time lock, but once it gets to those dates I'm sure you'll be able to time travel back to them afterwards like the rest.

I actually feel like Animal Crossing was perfectly designed to play at my personal natural pace. I have just enough stuff to do each day to keep busy for 30ish minutes and haven't needed to time travel.

Honestly the way to play, 1/2 hr to 2 hrs a day. Still been playing at a steady daily pace myself and still not bored. With fall been busy getting all the DIYs and looks like December is the same.

There's people who literally stated that because this update is just November and December, Nintendo is giving the games another content drought until the next update late January.

    The heck, time travelers man.

I don't time travel also. I'm fine playing a little every day.

I only time travel for star fragments. Shooting stars are still so infrequent on my island that if I get a night where there’s a dozen of them I’ll go back a few times to stock up and try to get a couple zodiac and large fragments. Otherwise, I like the slow pace. Spending hours and hours time traveling just to get everything done quickly just sounds joyless to me.

Oh, and once we time travelled to expedite the departure of an islander we couldn’t wait to get rid of. That was more for the lols.

I don't get time travelling. The game is what it is, breaking it needlessly seems pointless.

I think after a month or two (however long it took to get the credits), I was time traveling alot to speed up mostly for renovation, DIYs, flowers, and bugs/fishes... Is that pretty much everything? Nowadays, if I time travel, its to speed up the building process because I know I probably won't get back to the game for a while and/or be in the mood to build the next time I play.

So villagers don't randomly move out now if they are thinking about it. As time goes a villager will want to move, you can tell because they will have a thought bubble even at the beginning of a new day or entering the game. If its the one you want, great, talk to them and they'll move. If it's not, time travel a day forward and the thought bubble will either be on the same villager or different one, keep checking until its the one you want to move out.

If unsure if its a move out thought bubble, wait for the game to autosave prior, then talk to them. If they are asking to move and its not the one you want, turn off the game before they finish the conversation or it'll be locked to them for a bit.

The way I learned it was that I time traveled ~30 days forward, and there should be a villager with the thought bubble mentioned previously. If the thought bubble is over a villager you're trying to keep, don't talk to them, save + close the game, time skip forward another day, and repeat until the desired villager asks to leave. There's a bunch of guides on youtube if you need further details.

Jumped back on for the first time after the new update. Did they change the performance of the game? I had areas that slows the game down due to all the crap the game has to load, now its practically preloaded. I still see a couple items load here and there, but no where near as bad as before and no slow down. Also, maybe its because I changed HDMI ports, but the game looks like its running 60fps now.

Heads up, if you don't get all the DIYS (cause Franklin can also give just the item for completing recipes with the secret ingredients), you can purchase all the DIYs as a pack at Nook's Cranny starting tomorrow to the end of November.
