    Outside the bayverse, huh?

Hope the aesthetic looks suitably different, then!

can we stop calling it "the bayverse"

The "Bayverse" doesn't exist anymore. He's not involved. He's done. There is no "Bayverse".

I thought Puerto Rico was part of the United States? Regardless, I do think the franchise could use some fresh perspectives, so I definitely appreciate that!

It seems that he is pandering to the geewuun nostalgia...

"The director is planning to humanize the Transformers characters on his movie (personality-wise and not design-wise). He want the robots to speak like us, in a natural way. That’s the way he remembers Transformers and the reason we felt identified with the original Transformers."
Angel Manuel Soto Drops Info On His Transformers Movie, No Connection To Bayverse

Hmmmm I hope the designs are less blocky and silly than what we saw on the Bumblebee movie Cybertron and more like we saw on Earth, menacing and cool

There is No G1. It’s over. There is no BW. It’s over. There is no BM. it’s over. There is no RID01. It’s over. There is no UT. It’s over. Using this logic the only transformers that exist are WFC, Cyberverse and BB.

I\'m all for an aesthetic that\'s different from Bayverse.  Not that I hate Bayverse\'s designs -- I own almost all of the Studio Series and much much more before it of the Bayverse toys -- and I actually respect their complex engineering and look  A LOT.  But I just don\'t see there\'s enough correlation between Bayverse character designs and those in the cartoons I grew up with.  Just don\'t care much about that \"same character in name only\" approach so often found in Bayverse.

The Bumblebee movie got it mostly right (except Bee\'s non-masked face, I always hated its audio speaker mouth and skeletal cheeks Bayverse-carryover), it struct the sweet spot of instantly recognizing the characters and its cartoon counterparts, yet got that stylish, modern and suitably complex looking design cues.  I hope future TF movies follow that path instead of Bayverse.

I want more Cybertronian drama, NOT human drama in my Transformers stories.

The Bayverse part is already a given.

Outside the U.S. seems like a good opportunity to avoid normal Hollywood cliches like setting it in NYC or a small rural American town.

No military sounds cool although it depends on the kind of Earth story being told here if the military's presence is justified or not.

Alright, let's see how this all pans out.

Except that they don't even use the movies Bay directed as reference anymore. You completely misunderstood what I'm getting at.

It's a new continuity; Bay's not involved with these movies, so stop calling it the "Bayverse".

I'm very interested to see how a Transformers movie will be without the military

He already let me down. Just kidding, I know it\'s Hasbro deciding mostly what to do. Though I feel like they can\'t say BB 2 and not connected to Bayverse when Bumblebee is clearly a prequel no matter how much people say reboot.  I know we don\'t know if it\'s BB 2 or not.  I like his desire to humanize the Transformers, seems like he might be thinking like me..or halfway cause it also seems designs like Crosshairs and Drift are a huge no to him. Personally I don\'t think Transformers need to be blocky and both styles can mix.

It’s the term used to differentiate the live action films. It’s okay to call Bay’s films the Bayverse. They exist but are in a different continuity, which is why they are using Bayverse to differentiate.

He might be. He was a producer for Bumblebee.

So to me this sound like Paramount and Hasbro see Bumblebee and the upcoming Transformers film as part of the Bayverse, even if some fans want to think Bumblebee was a reboot, it sounds more like this is the reboot.

It’s interesting seeing the non-initiated trying to work around the weird iterative nature of Transformers. I wonder if some of these directors understand just how often Transformers is rebooted and redefined.
