So while flipping through some of the more recent books I have purchased I noticed two very annoying things. 1. While reading Generation M I was saddened to see that one of the original X-men, Angel, has lost his wings. Several weeks later hes at a funeral in new X-men with two white feather things on his back. 2. So I have slowly been losing track of X-men the END. It's a weird and pointless book but Ive been reading it out of curiousity to see what Chris Claremont would have done with these characters if left alone. So while rereading the second issue I was quite annoyed to see Cyclops on the phone with Jean's Dad 10 or 15 years from now, knowing he just killed by the shiar in uncanny. Now I can blame the first one on an unimformed artist which is the editors fault but Chris claremont wrote both books!!! Thats just dumb. I know this seams petty but looking at the huge amount of effort that dc put into the crisis Marvel just feels real lazy to me right now
The Angel thing is theorised to be Angel using a holo-generator to help catch the mutant serial killer. If Angel really was depowered, it would been more widespread than the miniseries.
I would be happy if somebody mentioned there was a serial killer in another book. 48 kids just got blown up in that same issue and I bet they never get mentioned in another X-book.
I hate marvel because they randomly mix their stories with other their other titles just to boost sales (e.g. ASM part 1 continues in in MKSM and FNSM). So far, the Ultimate series doesn't really do this.
According to the 198 Files book, Angel wasn't depowered with the "M Day" event. I only read the Ultimate X-Men out of the X-titles so this is the first I've heard of Angel having his wings clipped (again). I know Icarus just had his wings clipped in New X-Men: Academy X though.
I was shocked to see a Wingless Angel at the end of GenM. However, I do think it's a ploy. There would have been a TON of press about it similar to when people though Iceman was depowered.
The X titles are a mess, continuity is non-existant. The only X-stuff that seems coherent to me at this point would be Deadly Genesis and Astonishing.
Cable and Deadpool is good on continuity too. And one of the few good current X-books, along with Astonishing and possibly the upcoming Wolverine: Origins. Angel is one of my favorite characters. I wish they would put him back on a regular team. X-men: The End is totally a "what if" story. Just read and enjoy it as such.
