    The only part about Japanese names I like is when Optimus Prime dies (again) in Headmasters and either Rodimus or someone else screams "CONVOY-SHOGUUUUUUUUN!" That sounds pretty badass.

    This is pretty much how i see it. If it came out in the US, then i use the American name.

    Personally I prefer the American names, unless the character never came out in the US, or never appeared in American fiction. when it come to teh figures, I'm a bit different. I use the American name, then if then same character has a repaint as the same character, then I refer to the repaint as the Japanese name. For example I refer to movie 1 Jazz as "Jazz" but the G1 redeco as "Meister".

    Hmm..

    Thinking about it I like both names Ligerjack and Leobreaker. They're both cool-sounding.

    Also, Wing Saber > Sonic Bomber. They're both cool names, but Wing Saber is slightly cooler in my opinion.

    Names I like:

    Fire Convoy as he looks sufficiently different from other Optimi. Be nice if he were made an actual Prime though with smoe kind of fire refence for a prefix though Fire Prime sounds lame.

    Gigatron cos I don't like having all these Megatrons in my collection.

    Ginrai cos he makes Powermaster Prime a seperate character which he actually was in the Marvel comics if you think about it. Seperate body and the original Optimus was actually part of the Matrix.

    I like Snowstorm but Snowcat's name and alt mode were obviously a GI Joe homage.

    I'll be damned if I ever use the names Billy, Wally and Meister though.

    The most Japanese I get with toys is sometimes yelling "GATTAI!!!" before messing around with a combiner.

    I am a fan of G1 japanese name but not quite appealed with Unicron-trilogy japonizations.

    TF-Prime can be Japonized if TakaraTomy has plans for several characters that in G1 was japonized as automobile brands (Ligier for mirage, Lambor for Sideswipe, etc..). OK Optimus Prime is no problem with the name Convoy since some Japanese still called Bay's TF Optimus Prime as Convoy and call Bumblebee as Bumble, and called TF:REVENGE constructicon as Buildrons.

    I'd prefer TF Prime to be japonized as follows
    Autobots -> Cybertron
    1. Optimus Prime -> Convoy
    2. Bumblebee -> Bumble
    3. Sideswipe -> Swipe OR Drift
    4. Jazz -> Meister
    Decepticons -> Destron
    1. Seekers -> Jettrons
    2. Shockwave -> Laserwave

    Minicons -> Micromasters
    1. Laserbeak -> Condor
    2. Ravage -> Jagar

    ok.. this is all known TF Prime characters that could be japonized.

    meow~

    PS. sometimes. Japanese names for some dudes pops up without reasons (Cosmos->Adam, micromaster policecar-> Holly)

    As another member mentioned, I always prefered "Gattai" over "Merge" or "Combine"

    the term "Gattai" is one of the hardest term to have a proper definition in english. frankly, thai translation for this word makes more sense than English translation meow~

    I forgot about Meister, I really like that name. I figure that's what they call him when he's in Japan. Kind of like a Gandalf/Mithrandir thing.
