The little twig-doll things hanging all over the place definitely made me think of Blair Witch, but that was it.

I have a feeling they had no idea a new Blair Witch movie would be coming out around the same time when they wrote and filmed that. Until Comic-Con, everyone thought it was an original movie called The Woods. That fact certainly didn't help that scene at all.

It's been so long since I saw Blair Witch I associated the dolls with the first season of True Detective, myself :lol

The premiere was just alright. Nothing exciting, but there is definitely a possibility that it could get good, which is already an improvement over last season, which was pretty much a train wreck from start to finish.

I've never been too interested in American Horror Story. I've heard everybody say it's good, and I've never doubted that, but it just hasn't gotten my attention. But knowing now that it's about the Roanoke Colony this season might just get me to watch it. Everything everybody's saying they don't like about it (documentary format and such) is what has me really interested! :lol  I may have to give it a shot.

I feel the same, and that is what I liked about it so far.

Looking a little low-budget this season.

Yep and still no opening song either. I don't know if I'm going to make it when I'm already tired of it and it has only been two episodes. It makes me want to try and actually make it past episode 5 of Freak Show instead.

They should just have Twisty come walking out of the woods just to make everyone happy. Don't even explain how he got there.

I actually liked Freak show, although killing off Twisty half way thru was a WTH moment.

I also think HOTEL started good, but fizzled embarrassingly before the end.

I thought Hotel was great because it was so weird and brought back the really odd cinematography and weirdness to it. I think it's biggest detractor was being 13 episodes when it would have been perfect at 8-10.

I watched the first episode tonight and I thought it was okay. I will watch the second episode next week to see if it will get better.

    So far not bad.

I like that they focus on fewer characters.

    Kinda confused now:
who are the real people and who are the reenactors?

I'm guessing that the ones who are being interviewed, are the real people who went through it? Regardless, Roanoke has been quite entertaining for me so far. The last AHS that I genuinely enjoyed was Coven. Plus, I like the more "simple" and subdued look of Roanoke.

I am still liking it, but I did find one thing a little odd. Cuba Gooding Jr.'s character said he couldn't explain the experience with the psychic, but then he immediately came up with plausible explanations after he said he would charge them.

All the other series of AHS just didn't keep me interested, but oddly enough, I'm really liking this one, perhaps it has to do with the Roanoke mystery and that has me intrigued enough to hang in there.
Oddly enough, I'm even liking the 'real vs reenactors' with the telling of the story and cut to reenactments, doesn't hurt that the actors are all top notch either.

The backstory bit was cool, but they are really dragging this thing on. Also, I agree with the brother, the psychic guy is a horrible scumbag.

Ugh. Looks like it's going to be another sucky season of AHS.

At this point, I would rather they just replay season 1, which was the only really good season they've done.
