Anyone watch the premier to the new season? It was absolutely positively boring. Where was the unique cinematography? Where was the weirdness? I hope the whole season is not like this because if it is, then this season is already worse than Freak Show. If it didn't actually have the FX logo in the bottom of the TV screen I would have thought I was watching just another generic murder porn TV show on Discovery ID. I'm not even sure I can make it to five episodes if it is. Also, what happened to Lady Gaga being in this season? She's not listed in the credits at all.
I didn't even realize the new season started. After HOTEL, I can't exactly say I'm excited for any more.
I didn't mind it too much. Felt like a bit of a departure from what they usually do but yeah. Anyways, the first few episodes of these things are always awful (in my opinion). Girlfriend got me to watch the Coven one and I hated it but kept on watching, ended up enjoying it a few eps in, same with asylum.
It's called build up, and given the whole secrecy about this season I'm not surprised it might take an episode or two. But let the hate follow after one episode.
I watched two of the seasons beforehand, and they just didn't grab me. However, the anthology format and the secrecy aspect of this season intrigued me enough to watch the season 6 premiere. I highly enjoyed the departure and the mystery show format with reenactments from famous actors (I didn't know Cuba Gooding Jr. was going to be in this so that caught me by surprise). I thought some of the scares worked pretty well, and I'm interested to see how long they keep this format considering this season only has ten episodes. I'm mainly sticking with it because I think the disappearance of the Roanoke colony is one of most interesting mysteries in American history, and I'm interested in seeing a horror story based around that.
Not really liking the Dateline-like docu-drama format of this season, but I'll continue to watch for awhile.
It's not the build up I hated, it's the documentary crap style. If I wanted to watch people talking about the event and see actors playing those people I would watch Homicide Hunter or Swamp Murders.
But...that's kinda the point. They're mocking those shows right now. I'm interested in seeing how that'll play out, gotta be some weird twist to it. And who didn't love seeing OJ Simpson and Marcia Clark have sex? That was worth the entire episode alone.
Every season was something new, compared to the season that came before. I mean, I get it, kudos to them for switching things up even more, but meh. Also, one of the things that's kinda jarring to me, is that the "real people" (doing the interviews, speaking to the camera), are all younger than the "re-enactors" are. I get why they chose certain actors for certain parts, but anyone who has seen any of the real re-enacted documentaries knows that if should be the opposite of this.
I just meant the format compared to the past shows they've done. I wouldn't be surprised if it's all some weird messed up thing, it's odd that we have our main cast telling us the story as it takes away all fear that they're not going to survive. For a show that relies heavily on cheap shocks (not a bad thing), it doesn't seem right.
Yeah, I thought of that too. I suppose the twist could be that they aren't actually talking to a film crew, but who knows.
Good god man remove the stick from your bum, it was a humorous observation based on the fact the actors just recently played those people in a mini series.
I did not know that as I didn't touch Crime Story. I had enough listening about OJ Simpsons when I was growing up (being from Buffalo NY), so I never bothered to pay attention to anything that show had, even down to its actors.
in what sense? the format or the story? I don't think anything resembles the blair witch in the first episode personally, theres no held cam footage or anything of the like. The actual story seems to be loosely based on true events (the Roanoke Colony stuff).
