I like to use some basic paint pens and other basic art supplies to customize my toys. Today, while shopping for the house, I saw a 2015 RiD Ratchet on the shelf and on sale for under $3. I had to take it home and go to work on him. Original toy: My work: I like the white legs, red cross on the knees and door, panel lines, and light bar. It is a fun little toy.
Thanks everybody. I know that if I could afford and access proper hobby tools like when I lived in the USA and used in my teenage years, I could do 100x better. However, I haven't done much since I was about 22 (35 now) and I live in Peru, where hobby stores are not nearly as common and what they have can cost up to 3x as much as in the states (importation and local taxes). I just decided to start messing with my toys by applying a wash and using pain pens. Here is some of my work on other toys:
Brilliant! Proof that it is not the supplies that make the artist, but the art tht an artist can make out of those tools.
That's a great look! I follow in youtube El Customizador Marvel, a channel from Peru. I love watching his excursions to the center of Lima to look for parts and materials. I live in Paraguay and the only hobby store I know is focused on card games, so things I cannot find in art stores or tool stores I have to order online from other countries.
