what i have done is taken an arms micron leo prime and replaced his head with something more suitable. i used the head from a ko maketoys battle tanker as i thought it matched up with the original lioconvoy head design fairly well. i had to score out the socket on the head so it would fit on the figure and sadly had to glue the head in place so it lacks any articulation in the head itself. it does however still transform and looks better than the stock thundertron head

Edit: pics of final mod added, did the leg swap with a second Leo prime and got a lio knight head from renderform

Lol, I did the same thing on mine, including to the last detail with a KO head! He does looks better with a standard Prime head. Now get another Leo so you can replace his peg leg with a normal one :)

thats actually next on my list for this guy, just gotta get another $40 i can justify spending on a second leo prime haha, i also ended up giving him one of the guns from the battle tanker set.

Edit: and second Leo prime has been bought for the replacement leg and arm claw weapons

The photo is on its side. Please edit the picture via a picture editing app, like "picsart" (for mobile devices) or a free art program (like "ms paint", "paint.net" or "GIMP"), and not via a gallery app. Cheers.

Also, I would recommend making the head rotate. You could buy any old TF and replace the ball and socket from one with your Lio Convoy and make it work. What's the point of "improving" a figure to end up with one that can't move it's head?

Cheers. Btw, one option you could do is cut out the bottoms of both the original and Battle Tanker heads and glue the original head's bottom (containing the concave socket) into BTs head. After it sets and any filling/paint touch-ups have been applied, the new head should then fit onto the original socket.

also personally im not too fussed about losing the head articulation, as long as it looks good and still transforms im happy :)  especially considering this is one of my more spur of the moment mods that ive done, literally had no plan for the head going into it and the head i was gonna use ended up too big, but very happy with how he turned out

as for cutting the bottoms of the head, thats a good idea and i may have to try that out, thanks for the suggestion

For those still looking for a good prime head for this mold the CW Battle Core Prime head fits perfectly! Even the ball joint for the head is the right size! Anyways a small clip of plastic to the neck part gives it proper seating too.

Yeppers! I shave a small amount of plastic from the lower side of the head for even more clearance. Even looks great unpainted.

That doesn't look too bad! If only the regular optimus came with this head (battlecore definitely got the better head)

Because the ball is a good fit, neck articulation is perfect too. Colors look good as is so not even sure I want to paint him in Leo Convoy colors...

I've got a second Leo prime coming for the leg swap (no peg leg) so I may try and acquire a standard cw prime head and see how it looks

OK had to do some minor sanding to the sides of the head to give enough clearance for transformation but only took about 5 minutes with a Dremel. BTW, not trying to take over your thread.

Did a quick mod to him last night, neck transplant with the basic kreo Optimus. Just cut the old neck off, superglued the new one on and now he has full head articulation
