after lookin at Soundblaster for awhile, I do have a few opinions...one, I'd ditch the blue on his legs...its out of place, and looks like you just forgot to alter them (I realize you said he's not totally finished), and instead of the rockets/cannons on his shoulder, a huge bass tube or something would have been badass...or something else to look like speakers or something offensive thats sonic based. Dave
Dave, thanks for the suggestions and for taking a long look at my work! I'm actually pretty fond of the choice of blue on the legs, especially in contrast to the silver. I like the hint of Soundwave being present, but not overtly. Also, I really wanted to follow the G1 color scheme pretty closely for once, since I rarely do so, at least this closely. I don't think it looks out of place on the G1 version and it seems to work well here. I'm actually working on the inside of the alt mode as we speak. The weapons already transform into bass boxes and Laserbeak transforms into a set of woofers. I've planned that much for a while now. However, it looks like with all of the sound SB's packin', he's going to be a one-seater! Ah, the front seat was removable anyways . . . Most of the remainder of my work is the inside (mainly making a seat now) and any other add on accessories I want to add (I still want to add a Ravage and Rumble/Frenzy to him), and just some minor decal apps. Other than that and a gallery shoot, I'm pretty much finished.
Dude, I hate you... :-D Honestly, I really don't. You've finished quite a few customs while most of mine are still works-in-progress. My original three, Psyche-Out, Scanout and Vibe are still being worked on with Vibe needing some more paint and the most work. My custom based on Shockblast, Scanout, has some decals on him but needs some silver racing stripes and he's done. Unfortunately, what has been holding me back has been health problems. I've been in and out of the hospital and ER with kidney or liver problems that it has really taken my strength out of me. I can't sit up in a chair, or even sit straight up in bed, to work on my customs. I'm limited as it stands to "preparation" type work such as removing graphics and paint applications from some of the other characters I'm working on. I'm working on cleaning up a Decepticharge for a custom I'm working on, at night, while I lay on my left side for as long as I possibly can. I'll hurt on that side more the next day, but I'm trying. ;-)
Hehe, well I hate you too! Well, keep working on your projects! Can't wait to see what you have in store! Just an update, I made SB a one-seater to have room for all of his sound equipment accessories! My plans now are to add whatever labels i come up with. I believe I've at least scrapped the Rumble figure and probably the Ravage as well. It's just about time to move on to something else . . .
Ok guys, I just added the decals that I designed and now I can finally say "he's finished!" Here are some updated alt mode photos: Enjoy!
Angled-down chest is definitely best for this guy. For the horizontal chest, I get this image of the chest opening up to eject someone like in G1 and Soundblaster gets whanged in the face by the hood. Angled-down at least gives those ejected the same trajectory as G1 (and yeah it does look better for the character). The new shots of alt mode look fantastic! Nice job cleaning up the trim, and those decals are perfect. I've seen xBs IRL with fx and they all look like a silly attempt to save face on driving around a bread box. This just so hard that it would probably work just as well IRL.
Thanks guys! As for the stereo, it's in those pics, you just can't see it. As for the chest, I like it as it is as well (as previously stated). Maybe it was the new photos with better shots, but today to finish him, all I did was add decals and the modified seat. I wanted a nod to the Japanese HM series from G1 (front label) and a very subtle nod to the G1 toy (rear glass). This guy was a headache, but fun at the same time. And, the good feeling that I love in the end is that I have a new Alternator toy! Now it's time to move on . . . I hope you guys enjoy this custom as much as I am Enjoy guys!
Same here jourdo, I didn't think that it was possible, but Rev here's made the Skidz mold look incredibly kick ass! Good job mate!
Thanks for all of the positive feedback guys! I really appreciate everyone's posts and I'm glad you all have been enjoying my work!
