Here it is...my final commission piece. It's so fitting that it's an Alternator. There's also something very fitting about the piece, and who it's for. I'll still be around, but like the last year or so, pretty infrequently, pretty much just personal projects for myself. Anyway, I digress, WIP thread here: Heavy/Scratch: - WIP Alternators (MP?) Plowking Paints used were Model Master Flat black for the fenders, hardtop, etc, Tamiya Gloss black for the main body, MM Chrome Yellow for the blade and other accents. Robot mode "black" (head, forearms, feet, parts of torso) is custom dark grey/green mix, and gray is a custom silvery gray. It's hard to see in some shots, but he's actually got 3 distinct shades of black on him...I think it looks pretty cool in hand. "Jeep" logos and "PLWKNG" plate are custom made decals, and 'Con logos are Ocean dry transfers. So, on with the pics. As always, lots more thumbnails below (man, this new photo uploader is awesome!): The plow has numerous joints, allowing it to raise, lower, and angle side to side...for "realistic plowing action" Transformation: Upper body is pretty much identical to Mirage, so I didn't photo it, however the rest is all new: Robot Mode up next
Robot Mode: He ended up with a short, broad stature, the really works, IMO. The plow, again, has plenty of range of motion, allowing for either a defensive shield, or offensive bettering ram. The gun features a flip out blade, because, why not. Thanks for looking!
Wow, that's above and beyond many of the alternators/binaltech customs I've seen. I love the different shades of black, as well as the selective use of gloss paint! Do you use any kind of protective clear coat?
Someone just got an early Christmas present I think! Amazing work Jarrod, a Fantastic finally to a commissions career. Here's hoping you'll still churn out a few personal pieces in the future. Love the look of the bot, great proportions and the transformation as well as the ALT mode are seamless.
I now demand an MP version from an official/3P Blind, and a CHUG version from either Classics it CW Hound. If you don't, I will be very upset, and throw my toys on the floor and tell Mum that YOU did it.
I honestly don't know where to begin. To say the least, I'm blown away. I own a few of Jarrod's customs, but this one here?...this one takes top prize. And its not just because it's a "Plowking". This work of art doesn't even "feel" like a custom...those of you that have handled or own custom TF's know what I'm talking about here. This thing feels like a "Legit" TF. Nothing too loose, nothing too tight. Everything pegs together nicely. The paint, the finish, all that... In alt mode, you cant even tell that it TF's differently from a "factory" made Jeep Alternator...its that damn good. Two words: Top. Notch. Y E S S I R !! I sure did!
superb. the quality everyone should strive for. I do like the head allot and the legs are leaps and bounds superior to either of the two original figures used. even if you no longer have the time to create hope to still see you around.
Thanks everyone! I honestly depends on the piece, on Plowking here, the only clear coat is on decals. I've found it sometimes makes gloss black look a little funky and uneven. In fact, I generally only use it if a piece is decal heavy, or I'm trying to specifically get an extra high-gloss look. Yeah, I'll still be around. In fact, I've got a handful of pieces that I'll be working on this month. Its from the 1/72 Macross Zero VF-0A Battroid kit from Hasegawa, slightly modified.
At first I was like, oh cool, he repainted a Hound. But then it set in just what you had done, and holy crap, you should not be allowed to retire! I feel like I've seen a few different versions of this Plowking character. Is there a gallery somewhere?
Why haven't I posted a drooling post here yet? I think this is so bloody awesome and everything I wish I could do but know I likely never will be able to (or even be able to motivate myself to). You've basically designed and made a completely new alternator!!!! That effing incredible. And I just love it. And so amazing that you look at the first pics and think "oh, it's a Hound repaint"...and then it transforms completely different and ends up looking like an entirely different robot. Hey Lobo, how come I don't see anymore of your amazing work? You also made some incredibly good alt customs (the unproduced Bumblebee comes to mind) or even that incredible Hearts of Steel Megatron?
