Not quite Binaltech, but i got this KO from the Conversion Metals Cars, wich are the KO BT line. I knew of the existence of a MP Convoy KO, but not a golden variant. Im not sure if its official or a custom, but i got it for cheap, apparently sealed

Paint is too good to be a custom to be honest, and even the battery compartment was painted, cant see why unless it was done at the factory after removing the injection sprues from the molds

Last pic is the normal KO colors

Based on the 20th Anniversary DVD MP Optimus Prime looking at the package shape and shortened smoke stacks. Same Diecast content as the real figure

Every single part is painted gold before assembly (as far i can tell), i had to loosen some screws because some joints were stuck

Lower legs are miassembled, had to fix them. Hydraulics and vents works. Hips seems to be broken, but holds still, left leg came of during handling. Not sure if plastic became brittle or what, is not GPS but who knows

Batteries were starting to leak, I dont see the need to have lights because everything is painted over, matrix and led too... but oh well

Wont be transformed but makes a good display piece. . The Display base is not included, i had it laying around

Overall, great quality, sturdy like the original, wish i knew more about it!

MP-1 was designed to interact with Binaltech, so you're good.

    Alternity, on the other hand....

I really like this version of Ravage. Still the original robotmode, but now a car. I wish they had done something similar with Grimlock, but reversed: keep the dinomode and have it transform into a truck. But that was probably beyond their abilities at the time.

Was it? I know TT designer said they knew people mixed the two and they were alright with it, but I'm not sure it was designed to interact. Scalewise it does work pretty good. MP-01's truck is of course a far cry from what alt/BT were, but if it was an accurate truck it would've look decent next to an alt. Isn't it roughly 1:28 and isn't that a common model kit truck scale?

It's also the reason why I considered getting the MPP-10 KO: it would've looked acceptable next to alts. I bought the FansHobby G2 Optimus for the same reason, but that looked far too small.

It's definitely what I did back then. My neo-G1 collection of MP's, Alts/BT and different leaders. Was in many ways a nicer time because it meant creativity with what you bought instead of just buying the character.

@Napjr I recall that KO. Didn't get it because I don't/didn't care about gold plated figures. I also didn't like the MP-01 mould that much, but that's BT-01's fault. Getting tha rather plain MP-01 in the same shipment as BT Smokescreen in his glorious metallic blue with all those decals and accurate altmode...meant I never warmed to MP-01.

At least the MP-4 trailer was designed specifically for Binaltech.

So I've started a custom that is a homage to alternators smokescreen (since he is really what brought me back to tfs after my childhood days). I'm calling him Rally. The thread is over in radicons, but I figured I'd mention it here incase anyone missed it.

My all time favorite Ravage alternator toy. Wad the second one that was a black licensed Jaguar that transformed into a animal Ravage.

Love to see at least one alternator get a update toy in legacy.

If I had to pick one character toy. I would pick corvette ravage that Transforms into that BW robot mode. Make the update toy Voyager class. Give the robot mode more articulation and more range of movements in the joints. That the original toy lacked.

To lower cost, I don't need the toy to be a licensed corvette. Just come ad close ad possible without the need to pay license corvette fees

I feel like having an Alternators update without a licensed car mode defeats the purpose of making an Alternators update. That sounds more like an Alternators downgrade.

Half and half. There are lots of good points to Alt/bts. Some love the scale, some love the interrior being visible, the rubber wheels with hubcaps (didn't realize how important that last part was going to be), the weapons making actual car parts, the classic characters getting a modernized car mode.

My love of the scale partially comes from having it consistent. I'd rather the cars look right together than the bot modes follow a height chart (looking at you siege cliffjumper).

But that’s the thing, each line caters to different things. BT/Alts we’re always about the car first and bot second. WFC was reverse of that.

I hope one day Hasbro revisits this. Keep the figures under $50. It’d be cool if the figures were CHUG scale but I’m fine with whatever.

Ps, if anyone here has extra or access to these label/decals, I'm looking for the stripes. Let me know.

I can’t pinpoint why those G1 sticker kits work so well for me on Alternators. They just look so nice. Wheeljack was especially crisp and impressive.

Also, I wonder how hard it would be to make a camper portion for the Prime mould. It’s mostly just a slightly angled cube, right? With some basic styrene skill someone could probably knock that out easily.
