Alternate Mode: 1937 Ford Street Rod With Trailer Robot Mode Katen Kyoukotsu! (Just kidding!) This isn't technically finished, but its almost done. I recently moved to a new home (Yay, HOA! ) and I know the customer was beyond tired of waiting to see this guy in action. He's missing a headlight bulb, as well as two panels that will go under his running boards that I made and he needs his Cali License Plate Decal. But setting up a new workshop takes a while (especially when you have as much stuff as I do!) Anywho, Beachcomber started his life as a Alt Tracks, and was modded with arms and feet from a Alt Skids, as well as door joints from a few Classics figs. The head is a reworked Cybertron Defense Red Alert figure. And, of course, the surfboard is the same from Kiss Players Pervy Prime (Thanks again, Lion!). Transforms into a 37' Street Rod, complete with a trailer to tow his Board. Decals by the AMAZING Boggs6ft7, best metallic decals I've ever used, doncha know! The paint is Testors Model Masters Metallic Blue, with a base of GW Ice Blue Underneath. The white is GW Skull white mixed with a lil Pearlized Paint. Thanks for looking!
I was expecting another Beachcomber!! Ah well, this is still sick. Earl man, your painting is phenomenal! WHAT?! Grand Maximus man, your collection is really growing! I'm slipping huh.....-fist shake!- I really want to see the alt modes, it might make or break it for me as it's an Alternator!
Loving it man. Really impressive stuff here. Now I know that the 'Vette mold does have reshell potential
Great job, man! Even though the Alt mode is different, the color scheme still screams "Beachcomber" to me, especially the head (and that surfboard is killer). I envy anybody that can pull off a reshell. I tried one with Classics Cliffjumper...it started out as a classic Porsche and ended up looking like something in Fred Sanford's junkyard.
Wow, it's made from an Alt. Tracks? Don't even recognise it as Tracks, almost thought you cut up a Roadbot or something. Nice job.
I know right? Come to think of it, I don't recall any Vette' reshells. But I am getting old so... The trick was to figure out what to do about the feet. I was actually thinking of doing a combined-super mode with his included trailer, but nixed it cause I thought it would make Beachcomber look more "Comber Magnus" The trick was the feet. I hollowed out the entire interior on the back side, and then attached the ball joints and pins through/into the bottom of his feet. The reason the feet are shorter than normal is to make sure they fit in the interior area of the legs and still have the hood totally close over it. But to the Gundam Meister of alt re-shells, thanks senpai!!! (And I mean a cool Meister, like Athrun Zala...not like that whiney biatch from Zero Wing...what was his name?? I always wanted to slap him.) But then you did an MP Fort Max, and won at BotCon...I think that worked out pretty damn well! It's more just a matter of patience and planning before you cut into him, ya know? Especially with re-shells, there aren't many opportunities to fix your boo-boos. Thanks. It's been a fun project to kinda push myself on. If I had to do it again, I would have picked an Alt Rumble for this mold. But hindsight is always 20/20, ya know?
Earl, I think this is an incredible piece of work. The alt mode photos are gonna rock as well, I know it!
Woohoo!!!...waiting on vehicle mode...GREAT JOB!! Being patient pays off!!! LOL....I still have ways to go.
This really is a great piece I could see a Seaspray done in this fashion as well. the surf boards were just the right flare for this project!
Earl, you keep cranking out some great stuff, bud! This is no exception. I like the look of this a lot, now I'm just waiting to see the alt mode. From the looks of it, it's some sort of old school hot rod/beach cruiser (which is great for "Beachcomber"). Keep up the great work, my friend!
Dude, I can already tell how great this is going to look in alt mode. I love it when it's a beefier alt mode from a sleek bot. I have one of the knock off FJ Cruiser bots, and I thought that would be an excellent Beachcomber, but from a '37 Woody Coupe? That's just wicked. You got the paint color just right on him too, very much like his original.
WTFZOMG this is beyond what I imagined!! I might love this as much as GrandMax! It's such a smooth reshell and from Alt Corvette too?! Mindblowing. Earl, once you again, you are a bad motherducker.
