First off, I haven't seen much (basically any) of Season 2, so if this has already been touched upon in the season, I didn't know about it.

I was just thinking though, why did Alpha Trion send all these precious and powerful Cybertronian relics to Unicron? I know at the time he said it was so they got into Optimus's hands on Earth, but wouldn't something have tipped him off at some point that Unicron was Earth? What if Unicron had managed to get these relics first?

Also, wouldn't Cyberforming tecnhically be nullified by Unicron as well, seeing as the planet is already mechanical, just on the inside? Why didnt the Cyberforming just reactivate Unicron?

The core of the planet may be Unicron, but the outer shell is earth and organic matter that's built up over millions of years. It wouldn't do anything to Unicron himself, but it would sure as hell do terrible things to the outer part.

As far as the relics go, I'm pretty sure Unicron could care less. He's pretty much a celestial being, so technology doesn't mean much to him. The only things that would probably be detrimental to him would be the Forge and the Star Saber, as those were used against him by the original Primes.

    As for Alpha Trion...

    Yeah, he's not the smartest.

His gift, the Quill and the ability to interpret (somewhat) Covenant of Primus, isn't perfect. While he can see the past, present and future, he can't see exactly what will happen or what will be.

How do we know that he doesn't know Unicron's Earth's core? Surely, he didn't send the Starsaber/Forge to Earth to battle Megatron--Optimus doesn't need godly weapons to fight his own.

The Forge will allow him to rebuild the Omega Keys (should he master the Forge of Solus) and the Starsaber is a weapon powerful enough to battle against Unicron.

Should Unicron awaken again, Opitmus isn't likely to use the Matrix against him again.

Alpha should have just used the keys himself or with allies on Cybertron and used that as leverage instead of waiting until he was in imminent danger to send them off because the future told him to.

Alpha Trion wasn't sending the keys and stuff to Earth so Optimus would get them later.

He was sending them to Earth so Optimus would possibly find them later because RIGHT NOW Iacon Hall was being STORMED by the DECEPTICONS and priority was making sure none of the cool relics ended up in their evil hands. He was rushing, he didn't get time to sit down and plan any of this.

Why would he revive the planet before the planet was dead yet? Specially when the war was still going on and people could (and probably WOULD knowing Cybertronains )still end up ruining again what was fixed?

Had the original Primes done their job or never left, perhaps things wouldn't have gone to $#!+ and Megatron never would have happened, meaning they never would have had to use the keys in the first place:p

I don't think Alpha Trion was in a place to use the keys as leverage. Megatron successfully made the Primes out to be the bad guys. Alpha Trion was hiding in Iacon as a high ranking archivist. No one knew he was a Prime, not even Sentinel Prime. He had connections within the Council, but society was already on the verge of rebellion.

Yeah, and besides, whose to say that the Cons wouldn't be able to capture him and take the keys?

I think Alpha Trion was trying to help, unfortunately that meant that he accomplished setting the future in stone, I mean he did mention that they would engage in a crucial chapter in the war against the Deceptions on Earth and given what was the last moments of season two...

Why wouldn't he? He could have created shelters and bases for the Autobots, giving them nearly unlimited resources (given that we were shown only a single use of the Lock). And about ruining what was fixed, Optimus was about to use the Lock with Megatron and his ship fully aware of the circumstances. The war IS still going on.

The Autobots already had bases and shelters, it was a war, they just got eventually destroyed by the crazy violent gladiator revolutionary creeps. Make more of them? Sure. But don't expect them to stay there for long.

Everything gets destroyed in war specially civil wars. They build stuff, it's destroyed, they fix it, Decepticons realize they have good stuff/keep repairing good stuff because of omega lock, they destroy Omega Lock and everybody is screwed all over again forever.

Any plan of regeneration during any conflict is stupid. It's like trying to keep a castle made of cards during earthquakes. If you wanna rebuild you have to wait for things to calm down.

But Cybertron was unable to sustain life then? Wouldn't the planet need to work first for the keys to work? The core was f'ed, and the planet stopped producing Energon.

We don't know how much time has passed since the war, but the fact that the keys worked, tells me that the core is able to produce Energon and sustain life once again.

Obviously they'd have to defend the Lock. Why wouldn't they be able to create a stronghold around the Lock? They'd have an infinite amount of resources to draw from while the Cons don't (again, I'm assuming it does more than repair buildings). As for waiting for a cool down on the planet, I don't think using it when Megatron is able to walk right up to you is a better time than using it for military resources in a heated war.

I don't know if I agree with this. In show, we have next to no explanation of how the Lock works at all, nevermind being related to Primus being well or the planet being alright and flowing with Energon.

They could TRY I just dont think it's safe to. Decepticons are really really horrible people when it comes to war, they wreck everything they sacrificed everything to ruin the other side because their leader is a freaking insane petty jerk that manipulates people into thinking he's cool beans. They make a really strong point out of the Lock being the ONLY possibly way to recover the planet if needed, I don't think they should be bringing it up until they can have the means to use it for said purpose safely.

I find using it after it cooled down much safer for such a "rare" card than mid-war (in a very provoking way too, Megatron would get supermad at that thing even existing) and by all means it SHOULD'VE worked. They just didn't expect the children to be used as hostages last minute nor that Megatron's desire to fart in Optimus's face would go as far as putting their planet's revival in the backseat.

Wasn't it stated that the Omega Lock is connected to the Allspark?

We've known since One Shall Rise part 3 that Primus produced Energon, sustained life on Cybertron. We know the civil war that had engulfed the planet was corrupting the planet to its core. The episode goes on to explain how Orion traveled to the core, hoping to reverse the damaged done, but to no avail. Primus revealed himself to Orion and bestowed the Matrix of leadership to him before going offline, at which point stopped producing Energon, making the planet unsustainable.

Out of the past explained why the Nemesis is on Earth mining for Energon, because Cybertron has none.

    EDIT:

Yeah, in Regeneration, Optimus explains to the Autobots that the Omega Lock is a conduit to the Allspark.

    Stay beautiful.

I'll take another gander then. I was aware of Primus being the core and that jazz, I've played the games and seen the show, but I guess I did not remember anything about that bit of info from Regeneration. I guess if Cybertron needed to heal up, my argument is null.

The Bots where fastly runned down an outnumbered by Cons.
And even the biggest Bot fortress would stand like a rhino beetle attacked by a swarm of ants, devoured in seconds.
So I guess A3 only had one choice.

Judging by Optimus' reaction to dark energon spewing from the earth, it's pretty clear Unicron 'being earth/earth's core' wasn't well known. I believe they even stated how the world must have formed around his body once he was defeated and no one knew where he was.

As for the Omega Keys, i gotta agree that Alpha Trion wasn't the smartest. He hid one of them in a random autobot. What if Smokescreen never escaped the decepticon ship and made it to earth? The autobots would have no way to obtain the 4th key and cybertron would be doomed. Unless the covenant said that Smokescreen would meet Prime..but that seems kind of cheap--but eh, I've had a problem with Smokescreen's revelation as the holder of the 4th key for a while.

Alpha Trion said he was send the final artifact to Optimus at the time of their conversation, he said it was the most powerful of them all, meaning Smokescreen.

When you think about it, it was quite true. Smokescreen got the keys back to Optimus Prime and the Autobots;)

    EDIT:

There's a reason why Smokescreen knew how to use the Phase Shifter, and it paid off. He may not have known how it worked exactly until coming to Earth, but he knew enough to succeed in getting them back.

These artifacts weren't sent just before they were found, but at the height of war, right?

Tox-En was likely sent to keep out of the reach of the Decepticons who were winning the war. Megatron and his arms were committing genocide, riding the universe of every last Autobot. Tox-En only would have helped them do that without firing a single shot or the use of troops.
