Today marked the beginning of Steam's Winter Sale and that means folks are poking around to potentially give older games a second chance now that they're discounted. With that in mind, I hope you weren't in the mood for Transformers over the holiday break. You're going to come up empty-handed.

Transformers: War for Cybertron, Fall of Cybertron, Rise of the Dark Spark, and Devastation are no longer available for purchase on Steam, and that also goes for their DLC packs. What's more, we've lost out on another (albeit much less fondly remembered) game from Platinum: The Legend of Korra.

These games have also vanished from PlayStation Network but, at the time of writing, are still available for purchase on Xbox Live. That said, it's surely only a matter of time if this is a licensing issue.

It's a shame Activision didn't give an advance notice."

If you own the games you can still re-download them from your account but people can't buy them now.

Shit I was really hoping to download FOC for my PS4 because the port is digital only. I really hope they go back up.

PSN literally had FoC on holiday sale for as low as $9.99 for PS+ members, all DLC cosmetics and maps included. I guess I lucked out in the end when I bought it then. The multiplayer community\'s still alive on it to boot.

 

And just when I was thinking of buying FOC on Steam...

 

I wanted to buy FOC as well. What also surprises me is that we can’t buy any of the community stuff like emotes on the Community Market anymore.

 

Ugh, seems like more mishandling by Activision again. I get that they only license stuff for X amount of time but they seem to be THE publisher who has the most trouble with this stuff...

It's a shame because one of those is a digital-exclusive (FOC on PS4) as far as I know. Oh well, guess I won't be buying that version...

 

Are the PS3 servers for FOC/WFC still up? I just got the physical copies and plan on grabbing the ROTF disc off ebay soon.

 

That's really strange, inexplicable, and kind of.baffling. I loved Devastation, glad I have a physical copy. And I was kind of hoping it would get ported to Switch, guess that's a non-starter now. I have a ton of respect for their individual devs, but Activision, like EA, are just generally what I would term as "aggressively bad" when it comes to business decisions and models that (in MY opinion at least) detrimentally impact consumers.

 

Can someone verify if you have a digital copy uninstalled, can you actually download it again?

I had an issue with the Ninja Turtles game from platinum games where I had uninstalled it for space reasons and could not locate it in my library to reinstall..
This is becoming a grimey practice where if you no longer have the a game you purchased installed you basically lose your money when it gets delisted because the game is no longer on thier servers.

 

I think activision loss the rights to make transformers games 

 

Seriously, I was actually really planning to buy WfC, FoC, and Devastation for my PS4. Now I really cannot play games anymore. Dang nabbit!

 

If that's the case, I hope another company will take Activision's place. Seriously, I need to get back into console/PC gaming. I've been so bored.

If Korra was also removed, it means a licensing problem more between Platinum Games and Activision than anything.

It won't happen because Hasbro will NEVER change for the better. They'll probably just shove another shit mobile game in our faces next year but even if it DOES happen, I'd be happy if Ubisoft or Bethesda takes over.

 

I forgot Ubisoft existed they might be a good publisher MIGHT but i don't see Bethesda getting the rights for a pg franchise

I just wish there were more dlc, like other dinobots, Cliffjumper, Sunstreaker, more levels, humans like Spike, Carly, and Soarkplug, that sort of thing.
