I did a thread search and went back some pages, but didn’t find a thread like this. Basically, this thread is for any and all McFarlane Toys news or just a place to share the McF Toys you own. Essentially, I’m really making this thread for a place to talk about this: There seems to be a lot more McFarlane Toys in the works, like MK11 Scorpion, MK11 Sub Zero, some Harry Potter figures, a One Punch Man Saitama, Deku, and others. Apologies if this a redundant thread.
I've only bought a couple McFarlane products. The first was a Walking Dead 5" Rick figure I found for $3.99 at Ross. I had one of the legs snapped off about 2 minutes after opening him...the plastic at the joint was much softer than I anticipated and the "peg" sheared off with no warning. I glued the leg back on and Rick now walks with a limp...kinda like the Dead, I guess. I found a set of the Stranger Things Ghostbusters kids on clearance at GameStop, but after my Rick experience, I decided to keep them sealed. Lol. I just don't trust that kind of hip design they use for a lot of their figures. The more traditional ball-joint hip like that shown on the DOOM Slayer figure above might be a bit sturdier.
Those are really nice looking. If they're as good as the Saitama and Naruto I just picked up over the weekend I'll be pretty thrilled with these. $20 decent domestic release is fine with me... especially since they're doing Midoriya's current costume.
Can't wait! These are much more accessible to me then Figma's (ie cheaper). Hope they do more of these in the future especially Todoroki, Momo, & Ochacho. Speaking of McFarlane & anime, should be getting the McFarlane Saitama & Naruto within the next week from BBTS. This will be my first time messing with a McFarlane figure since the Captain Kirk they did. Hopefully they've improved their anime figures since their honestly crappy posable statues.
I pre-ordered the Doom figure on bbts . But the image they had showed a fully suited doom guy. But it seems the official figure will have the bare arms showing .I'm super, super, bummed out about that (as I mainly collect suited hemelted figures). it's a very superficial thing I know but yea it really bugs me . I'm sure I'll get over it when he shows up to slay my neca aliens
How is the Saitama figure? Really interested in picking him up, but I’ve never handled a McFarlane figure?
It's a pretty good figure for $20. I'd say it reminds me more of something Neca or Marvel Select would put out (though so far without Neca's shitty QC issues) in terms of plastic quality and feel. I did have some tight joints, but not so tight that I couldn't rotate them out. AND he and Naruto were very articulated ...which is pretty new for McFarlane's stuff as it's usually a statue with a few joints here and there until the recent Fortnite stuff. I will say that swapping out the extra hands and heads felt somewhat... dubious the first time around as the joints seem kind of fragile if you don't handle them right (again, I compare these more with Neca or Marvel Select than say any of Hasbro's four currently running 6" lines or Mattel's 6" DC lines), but as long as I've been careful with them no breakage issues thus far. I don't know that I'd buy more One Punch Man merch (I'm not really a big fan of the show and only purchased them both from my LCS to get a discount on Naruto), but I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more Shippuden figures, the upcoming My Hero Academia figures, and any other Anime licenses he may get. Kind of hoping McFarlane takes an interest in and gets the Fairy Tail license after handling these... it amazes me that as popular as that show is that NO ONE (not even the import companies) are doing any merch for it (outside of Funko Pops anyways). I mean, sure, these aren't as nice as SH Figuarts or Figmas, but those figures should be a higher quality given their prices. That said; the Naruto line by SHF has been canned and who knows if Figma will touch One Punch beyond Saitama and MHA beyond the upcoming Deku reissue and newly announced Bakugo?
Back during the years when Spawn figured were more than just statues I was a McFarlane junkie. I have every relesase up until, I believe, the mutants line or around there. Once they stopped making them action figures, started concentrating on sports and movie stuff and basically moved away from what made me like them I stopped collecting. Haven't picked up a McFarlane figure for myself since. My girlfriend has a lot of Walking Dead building sets, but that's it. I have absolutely no interest in the video game and anime stuff they're making now and wouldn't even care about the company... ... IF they didn't tease Hollow Knight. My daughter absolutely loves that game, and I find it visually beautiful. Those figures, should they make more than just Ghost, will be pre-ordered the moment they go live.
I spent a decent amount of time studying those images, and I'd say All Might and Shigaraki are the best ones of the four; both this Deku and the figma don't really get the hair right? The figma feels too... high? I actually think the McF one does it a bit better but the coloring could use more green. Bakugo is probably my least favorite of the four, but I don't think it's bad, per se. Compared to Deku, I think it gets the hair pretty much right. The blast effects aren't great; there's very clear smoke plumes in there but they're still in the translucent orange. The mask is the biggest difference with the figma because the McF one is symmetrical and the figma isn't (unless that's just a change his costume had and I just never noticed). But I like the face on the McF one too; none of the figma's really do it for me, they're too subdued and not manic enough. That's the probably the thing this line has to its advantage; I think we have a much better chance of getting more of 1-A than the figma line (granted, GSC makes tons of different figma and whatnot, etc.) Momo, Jiro, and Ashido are among the ones I want the most, but I'll honestly take anyone if it's means they'll do more waves. That's one of the reasons I prefer this one over the figma; his second and third costumes are way better than the one he starts with.
I know McFarlane has been hyping up Spawn merch to be revealed at SDCC but what I want to freaking see is new Spawn figures, just as articulated as their new One Punch Man figure but all that detail and wash used on their figures from the 2000's. We know they can sculpt some damn good plastic statues. Let's get back to actual Spawn action figures. The demand is there, has been there. Plus Spawn is gonna show up in Mortal Kombat 11, since Mcfarlane has the license for that, might as well make a new, fully articulated Spawn!
I definitely want the Doom Slayer. They need to make the original Doom Guy though. And why wouldn't you make the demons? Honestly want them more than Slayer or Guy. I've literally wanted a Hell Knight since I was a kid. I even tried to make one back in the day.
The last McFarlane figure I got was the Captain Kirk but I can already tell these are an improvement on the poseable statues of old. Outside of My Hero Academia and any other anime figures they make I'm not going in on McFarlane right now. I have no desire to get any of their DC figures outside of maybe the Batman related characters because of how out of scale they'd probably be to my decently sized DC Multiverse collection.
I don't understand the enthusiasm for McFarlane DC figures. Am I the only one that looks at their past figures and sees incredibly sloppy paint and sub-DCUC articulation? The only figures I ever bought were Kirk and McCoy* and I had to go through several of them to find samples that weren't caked in paint slop. *I still can't believe they did McCoy, albeit one per case with dress variants of Kirk and Spock. Everybody knows that the only characters in Star Trek are Kirk and Spock. I wish Diamond's line hadn't fizzled out.
I'm guessing you haven't seen anything they've done starting with Fortnite. They really have uped their game.
Can you give a link to this McFarlane McCoy? I can't seem to find any pics or info on it, only the Kirk & Picard.
Sorry, I got my wires crossed. Those were a cheaper run of the older Diamond Select Trek figures. Same weird muddy consistency of most McFarlane stuff though. I've seen Fortnite. Slightly less slop.
My Hero Academia Action Figures, Statues, Collectibles, and More! Well, the my hero figures are up for pre-order on bigbadtoystore.
