Anybody notice this before?

 

I could believe it. That Godzilla design was very Heisei, and,

the white burning mode he used to take out the Gigans makes a clear connection between him and Godzilla II's burning form. Then the framing of his victory roar at the end of the short is a recreation of Junior's revival at the end of Vs. Destroyah, framed in light from behind as he roars.

 

Meanwhile, there are tons of newly created monsters they did that are just collecting dust. Like what was the freaking point?

 

Probably didn't want to use already established monsters for what was essentially a throw away scene. That and Toho apparently charges a licensing fee per monster from what other licensees have said.

 

I get that, but it defeats the point of creating new monsters if they aren't going to do anything with them.

 

I don't think those original monsters are meant to be anything other than background fodder. Godzilla Vs Kong was well received so it looks like they're leaning into giving audiences more of that. If anything, the original monsters might have more of a role in that upcoming Monarch series.

 

That makes it even worse then. I don't care about another King Kong or Godzilla movie, I've got plenty of those. I want movies on the other monsters like the mammoth looking one.

 

  Good luck marketing that.

 

They turned them all to comicbook fodder.

 

Well given WB is marketing a Flash movie starring a psychopathic criminal despot, marketing the monsters they revealed should not be an issue.

All this does is continue to show how inept WB is at handling any sort of cinematic universe. They don't deserve to have franchises.

 

And rehiring the same director who assumed his audience is so stupid they wouldn't question the logic he was applying in his writing.

Also this is how they probably came up with the new title.
