Just 3 films in a trilogy before the rights revert to Toho? ... does this suggest who's gonna win in Godzilla vs King Kong?

Is it known if Toho will be starting their new series from scratch, or building on Shin Godzilla?

 

Starting from scratch and they are planning to make solo monster movies starting other monsters than Godzilla

 

Godzilla vs King Ghidorah is another I see pop up a lot on top 10 lists.

 

The monster fight are very good but it has a pretty confusing human plot that features time travel

 

My favorite is Showa era Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974). It's goofy but I just love the darn thing.


I also have that Trendmaster's 6" Zilla in my collection. It's a decent figure, and the roar feature still works.

 

Mothra vs Godzilla is hands down my favorite Godzilla film. As for the 92 remake, it's one of the worst in my book. Whereas MvsG was about the greed of man is destroying the environment and how everyone has to work together to succeed, GvsM is just mankind sucks ass because they are destroying the environment and that's it. There's no actual climax to the human plot.

The only truly outstanding Heisei film is Biollante. King Ghidorah isn't bad, but it's way too convoluted for its own good and the acting is quite pitiful.

My favorite Millennium film is the first Kiryu one. The Millennium series was a great era of Godzilla films. Sure, Megaguirus is pretty boring and Final Wars is not perfect, but it was a solid era overall as far as experimenting and the effects work was impressive.

 

Don’t forget 2000. Good solid movie that one. And one of my favorite Godzilla designs.

  Of course I can't forget about 2000. It's the only Godzilla movie that's English edited version is superior to the Japanese cut. I just wish I could watch it with the Japanese voices.

As much as I love the Millennium series of Godzilla, the title Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla was always silly to me
because all I can imagine is Godzilla holding a picket sign protesting MechaGodzilla. That being said, it's still one of my favorite Godzilla movies.

 

Godzilla, waving his sign: "Mechagodzilla is unfair! Mechagodzilla is in there! Standing at the concession, plotting his oppression!"

 

I think they did that because it was a third movie titled Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla and it was already bad enough when they called the 93 movies MechaGodzilla II even though it had no relation to the Showa movie at all.

 

So was the actual Japanese release titled Godzilla against Mechgodzilla or was that just for foreign markets?

 

The Japanese title was Godzilla x Mechagodzilla

 

Which sounds like a bad fanfic.
