It's like that Ironhide design. Movie and G1 copulated and this is the result.

Yeah, no. The Prime designs are complicated, but they aren't as ridiculously-overwrought as the movie designs. For one, you can actually get relatively show-accurate toys (FE Cliffjumper, Bumblebee, Prime, Starscream and Bulkhead, PRID Wheeljack, Dreadwing, Vehicon and Soundwave and AM Breakdown) out of them :p

Plus, the 'cons don't have bug faces.

Me gusta. Definitely like that design.

Well, you know, digitigrade legs are ruining Transformers forever, and having that kind of leg design is just ridiculous when it comes to people's vision of a mechanical alien species. ;)

Or, more likely, they just personally don't care for that design aspect.

    Paxtin gets it.

Nor do they have chicken legs, but more importantly, they ALL look like they are of the SAME species and come in color!!!!

Strange, seems to me that there's actually a wide range in the colour scheme of the Decepticons...

    Colour:
    Rampage
    Demolishor
    Long Haul
    Shockwave
    Brawl
    Soundwave (RotF)
    Scrapper
    Hightower

    Dull silver/brown/gray:
    Megatron
    Starscream
    Blackout
    Grindor
    Scalpel
    Bonecrusher
    Soundwave (DotM)

    Black/white:
    Barricade
    Frenzy
    Laserbeak
    Ravage

Plus, you know, how dare the alien organisms that change the entire shape of their body from countless alternate modes have some variety in their designs. :p  Each to their own. Some people want all of the Cybertronians to have a set "template" for their race, others want variety in designs from their fictional alien race.

    That's a bit harsh.
I think there's plenty creativity in this, even if it's only a mix of two designs.

I'm not a fan, I just don't feel the melding of G1 and movie worked with this.

If he's meant to move anything like movie Sideswipe, the chicken legs make perfect sense. Seriously, give him normal knees and he's just going to look like he's trying to poop anytime he moves anywhere.

I feel a stronger prime/FOC vibe from the design I dont see much G1 except red lambo. As a matter of fact i could see this sideswipe rolling on his "hind wheels" thru a battlefield full of vehicons kicking ass and taking names.

This dude is awesome! Love the G1 chest, with the movie head and blades ... Plus he's still got his "skating" feet ... Such an awesome blend!

It feels almost like movie more, I'm not feeling for it. Ironhide had better balance.

Many of the characters you listed barely got screen time. When everyone was duking it out, it was hard as hell figuring out who was who. I suppose what I should have said was distinctive colors.

Yes, how dare they change into alternate modes with distinctive color scheme and still be recognizable--I'm looking at you every transformer line, save for the movieverse:p

What's this set template you speak of for the face? G1 had a bunch of different face--some didn't even have mouths, proper eyes or what have you. Alpha Trion gave us facial hair, which still shows up in Transformers to this day.

We humans come from all corners of the planet are look different from one another; however, we look as though we come from the same species--something the movie characters don't.
