So what have we learned here today folks? Don't give Gearbox games that are trapped in development hell. They will end up being pretty terrible.
... i was planning to get that game on WiiU... ... now what? (checks google for reviews) damn. EGM gave it a 9/10 while everyone else got less than half of a full score. ...yeah, ill pass until it reaches $10.
I'm still planning on picking this up on the cheap. I was just over at gamefaqs and there's mention that there was an update that made the game harder with the xeno AI doing things it hadn't done before. Any truth to that, or is it just wishful thinking? Also, anyone try the Bug Hunt dlc yet? How is it?
Is this a new DLC? Why the heck are they putting out DLC if they haven't even fixed all the problems with the game?
I enjoyed the campaign, especially coop. Best game ever? Not by a shot, but it wasn't that bad either. I've played worse and some of those are games others drool over.
Its possible that the modding community may make something of it, if the modkit/dev tools are ever released for use. Its fertile ground for such a thing at least. Other than that, I'll be happy to see this game buried in the same shame drenched basement as Alien 3.
Actually the whole point of that statement was to point out that I feel the game failed so spectacularly that it is AS BAD as the shitty film it was meant to replace.
Thread revive! Like I said I was going to do above, I picked this up on the cheap. $24 new for the 360 at Target, which was as high as I was willing to go. I'm almost through the campaign and you know what? It isn't terrible. It's not fantastic either and could definitely use more graphical polish. The 360 screen tearing is awful, but mainly seems confined to cut scenes. I'm on "Hardened" difficulty, which is one step below max, and the game is a decent challenge. I've died a fair number of times. The alien AI isn't amazingly stupid like initial reviews had said, which I'm guessing was resolved with that one patch Gearbox released. They run at you, of course, but they also sidestep while doing it as well as jump around and use the ceiling. I'm having fun with it and am not minding the canon rewrite since I'm having the opportunity to visit *all* the major set pieces from Aliens. I also think the xenomorphs have a decent amount of presence throughout the game. I had worried that the Weyland-Yutani mercenaries would be the main baddies to fight, and would dominate the campaign, but that hasn't been the case. I'm tempted to buy the bug hunt dlc, but like most dlc's this far from release date, I wonder if there are games to find?
