I believe it was actually spelled that way in the original post, which was a badly-spelled, all-caps rant...and not right at the start of BW, either, was it? Didn't it actually occur (on att) around 1998 or so? My archive queries have not been fruitful.

Alright guys, you're gonna hate me but:

I feel the same way you do about Starscream and Megatron a bit, I think. Megatron's head is kinda cool though, it grows on you. But his body is just too humanoid and that is something i think could be fixed. But the rest of it...

They're really marketing off the idea that these guys are aliens. i mean, you don't want these guys to look like robots that we'd design, right? They have to be something no human could create. And the complexity of their design shows that. These things are advanced machinery and far beyond anything humans could come up with. I think the producers are brilliant! They really approached this from a realistic standpoint. And to do that, there had to be some sacrifices in design relativity.

All i say is give starscream a cooler face and give megatron a cooler body and things are ready to rock and roll!

Cant say I'm all too impressed so far.......Let's hope there's still a lot of retooling yet to be done.

 

Just out of curiousity how many people would feel better if this was a brand new group of Transformers, no recycled names or expectations that come with those names? I'd like to say i'd still hate them but if that Megatron was called Cryotek or Gygatron instead i must admit i wouldn't love it but it wouldn't make me wanna

The correct spelling just doesn't deliver the verbal "bananna creme pie in the face" that the whole Trukk-not-munkee sentiment is trying to deliver.

This is all "Snakes on a Plane" marketing. First, 'accidentally leak' design artwork to get the entire interent worked up about it, so people will see the film. I doesn't matter if they expect to like it, or are only going because they want to confirm in their own mind how much it sucks. They'll go, then they will either like it, or they'll tell their friends "OMG you gotta see it, it totally reeks!". Then they buy the DVDs to show at parties and rip on it MST3k-style. It's all money, and all wonderfully planned from the start.
