Huh, wonder where this will take place timeline-wise? I could see it bridging the gap between the end of Clone Wars we just got and the beginning of Rebels.
On one hand, I love Ashoka. She's one of my favorites. On the other, Disney has been steadily screwing up alot, so I wish this wasn't going to be a thing. If the Midas Touch turns everything to gold, what's it called when your touch turns everything to shit?
True enough, but it seems like the avalanche on mount craptastic has really started to gain momentum lately.
I think I said it in the last Disney+ Star Wars thread, but I wish Lucasfilm would take it slower. Focus all their effort on Mandalorian Season 2 and 3 (and maybe Obi-Wan) and make those the best they can be. It feels like we hear about a new Star Wars show or project every couple weeks. If these start failing, they're going to have so much backed up in the pipeline that it's going to be hard to course-correct. Like, it would make sense to wait and see what the reaction to live-action Ahsoka looks like before they greenlight a show about her. This feels like it could easily become a repeat of 2015 - 2019 all over again, just with TV instead of movies. TFA and RO were pretty well-received and seemed like a solid start for this era (sort of like The Mandalorian is now). TLJ was divisive and hurt the merch sales, and Solo flat-out flopped. TROS (while profitable) had a big drop off and got very negative reception from critics and fans. I think a lot of this could have been avoided if they had done the Saga movies every three years instead of two, and given themselves more time to fine-tune each one. The people at Lucasfilm obviously don't have the Marvel touch, where they can successfully juggle this many projects.
It didn't even click with me that it'd be live-action, I just assumed a cartoon. I'm even more worried, now.
I love Ahsoka. I named my pet rabbit after her. However, I think a spin-off show about her might be a little too much. Just focus on The Mandalorian for now. Also, I’d wait and see how she’s received in The Mandalorian first. I think Rosario Dawson is great casting for her, but there’s always a way that things can go south.
Damn, it didn't even dawn on me that it might be live action instead of animated... not sure how I feel about it potentially being live action.
Filoni will undoubtedly be handling this as Ahsoka is his creation. Hard to say more without details and seeing Dawson’s performance in mandalorian S2
It could be good, but having not seen the live action version in the mandalorian, and the current track record for most of the movies, I'll hold my opinion till I see some footage. I'd love simply another CG series with her, but Disney seems obsessed with live action these days. Surprised we haven't heard about a new cartoon series yet, after how well the clone wars finale went.
...The Ahsoka Tano Saga has been stronger than the Palpatine Trilogy. That being said if the star wars shows are stronger than the films than that is the direction we're gonna have to accept.
This is what I'd want. I'm thrilled she'd going to be in Mando, but her "real" self is in animated form IMO, just like Rex and Maul. (even though Maul didn't start animated, TCW version has replaced my mental image of him)
Can you take a quick glance in that crystal ball that tells you the future and give me the next set of winning numbers for an Australian lotto draw? Anyway, they can debut her in Mandalorian and if the reception is positive I see no reason not look forward to the spin off. And if the reception isn't positive or is at least neutral to disinterested they can just walk the series announcement back. Assuming they haven't started already of course.
If it is live action then they're putting in a lot of stock in Rosario Dawson. I get the character is amazing but we haven't seen what Dawson can do with it. I'd rather they have waited to see how it goes in Mando S2 first before just going for it.
Dang Disney y'all need to take it slow. Ever since Rebels in 2014 it felt like they have been shoving star wars down everyones throat.
