Yeah it was Spencer. Seems strange though, with the way A3U's rep was when he quit the game. Maybe this Boris got it at a knock-down price.
A3U has been up and running for awhile irrc. Spencer runs a different site now selling mostly 1/6th figs and parts, called urbansamurai. There is a link on there to A3U that is listed only as a link to "Transformers" across the top of the page, so I assumed he had some dealings with A3U in some way. I never had any problems personally when dealing with Spence, but the way things went down right before he got out, ew boy, it was sure handled badly. Which has been why I have probably hesitated to order any dollie parts from urbansamurai. EDIT - link to the site http://www.urbansamuraihobbies.com/
I don't care who's running that site or store, there's no way in HELL I'd purchase anything from them again after what they put me through (and others, apparently). The thread may still be searchable that detailed what happened. What a mess. The new owner should have renamed the business.
The new A3UP is rad. Boris is a top notch dude and I recommend them. This is coming from someone who had issues with the old A3UP.
And can we please not air all of the old A3U laundry? It's been done to death and has nothing to do with Boris who's just trying to make it in the business and had nothing to do with the previous incarnation of the store.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... They still have the replacement stacks for the G1 & MP Prime molds too, shweeet.
Well it has a little to do with Boris apparently, who took over a business that earned itself something of a bad name via the previous owner. I'm not sure the change in ownership was common knowledge, thus the discussion at hand. Boo.
Wow! 40 bucks for a ROTF "Desert Tracker" Ratchet and 60 bucks (!!!) for HA Sideswipe! Holy shit, what planet are they on??
Thought I'd point this out. The new A3U, owned by Boris, has a physical location, over at Lougheed Mall, here. But the store is not theirs. They rent space, which is part of Urban Samurai, as mentioned, owned by Spencer. So even if Spencer doesn't own A3U anymore, the physical store still operates from his new store.
I remember going to through A3U to get Masterpiece Megatron without the damn orange plug. Everything went great from what I remember. I vaguely remember some drama a ways back but we don't need to bring that back up. Noticed the Masterpiece stacks and picked up a set We'll see how it goes this time around.
Those are the Takara versions. Notice the white sticker with kanji script in the pictures. And the RA-08 and TakaraTomy Japan Version in the listing. And the description saying flat out that it's the Japanese version.
That was one of the items I had ordered from the old owner, ordered and never received. Do I even dare to try again?
