Pretty sure these haven't been mentioned before but ended up finding them at a Target store by the trading cards, right next to a box of blind packed 30th Anniversary figures.

 

Cool. They can be scanned too, interesting.

I got a pack just for shits and giggles. The tokens are pretty nice. Feel like quality poker chips.

 

If you can merchandise it, why not? I like the poker chip idea.

I was thinking POGS as well...The AR feature is pretty cool

 

I've invested far too much time into these, but here goes:

* The AR feature is good only for the black tokens, which come one per pack. The other colors are dead, with no features visible in the app (which crashes quite often, btw).

* Not mentioned anywhere on/in the packaging is the existence of a chase set of tokens, with the normal decals replaced by fancy-pants holographic decals. The tokens themselves are unchanged, with 24 chase tokens available. The AR feature in the black chase tokens is also unchanged.

* There is a way to tell while in the store if your blindpacked AoE AR token packages contain chase chips, and that is to look at the iPhone on the wrapper. An iPhone with a pink hue has at least one chase token, and one with a whitish-green hue is just a normal set.
