I'm sure we all know that every channel on TV is overrun with ads and stuff. So which one do you hate the most? ...I hate those freaking Progressive ads. All of them. They're stupid, pathetic and corny. And not funny at all.
I don't mind TV ads too much, because when I watch TV it's generally just a recording and I can skip them. Internet ads piss me off. I just want to watch a music video or 12, but I have to sit through the same Starburst ad every time. RAGE! RAGE! RAGE!
I don't watch TV, so I don't have much experience with those ads, but I absolutely hate any ads before YouTube videos, as well as any noisy ads. It's especially maddening when you've got several windows with 3-4+ tabs each and you've got to try to find which one has the ad in it. I also hate any ad banners that expand, pop out, or move.
The ones that have this one line - this one line - this ONE line - this. one. line - that gets repeated - that gets repeated - re-PEAT-ed - that gets repeated - over and over and over. This one line repeated over and over. The ones that are blatantly advertising. "Oh it's (company name®) (brand line™) (specific product™). Look at it's (selling point 1), (selling point 2), and (selling point 3)." The ones that people do really awkward things. Food ads do this a lot. The ones that go on way too long. Emotional appeals. Radio ads in general. EDIT: I'm glad I got adblock. My time on the internet is so much more pleasant without all th-- oh god, I'm advertising...
Please, do yourself a favor and download Adblock Plus. I hate that new BK ad with "Do the Walk" by Dire Straits. Ever since that commercial aired, my local classic rock station has been playing the shit out of it. Only classic rock station in town and it has absolutely no variety. Now I want to vent about this in a rant thread but most of them get closed it seems. I also hate the animal cruelty ads and basically any other guilt trip commercial.
Quite a few. The VitaminWater ad. It's like the Internet took a shit on a bottle of VitaminWater. The goddamn family singing Crazy Train. I actually feel bad for Ozzy Ozbourne. The stupid Charter commercials with that little ****** Timothy.
I dislike antidepressant commercials because they tend to make me more depressed than the people who actually need it.
anything from old navy, ugh. edit: also this. it's ok until they start screeching "EEM GOOIN AWF THE RAAAILS ON A CRAZY TRAIN" can we just all agree most commercials take a dump on otherwise great songs?
I use AdBlock, and I haven't watched television for a few years, so I'm not too familiar with current ads. However, one type of commercial that I specifically remember is the SPCA commercials. I couldn't stand those. They were unnecessarily lengthy, and left me feeling far more irritated than guilty or sad.
The headOn commercials. Seriously, they just say "apply directly to the forehead" half a zillion times without any indication of its purpose. I mean, what the hell do you even use headOn FOR?
