Anyone here got one or knows someone who does? I'm looking into getting a notebook and have read mixed reviews on this one.

Curious if anyone has anything to say on this one.

Acers are generally solid in my experience. We've got a shitload of them at work and thier failure rate isn't any worse then any other type, model or make of machine we have.

I worked at Office Max for 4 years, and in that time I saw more Acer products returned than any other (Lexmark was a close second though) especially their scanners. Man those things were crap. With notebook pc's you really get what you pay for. You can get a Dell notebook on the cheap.

It seems that the online reviews tend to lean me away from this one. It's ok as I found a fairly similar speced system on Dell for about $700 less.

$700 less?! That's a pretty decent price difference. Did you have to make any major concessions, such as memory or hd space?

The Acer system was quoted at $2499 CAD, the Dell I configured came in at $1700 CAD and change (with the $650 off coupon)

I gave up 20 GB in HD (100 GB vs 120 GB), lost 1 GB ram (1 GB vs 2GB), no built in cam or media card reader (not a big deal for me).

Everything else was close enough for me to be happy. And the price kicked ass for what I was looking for.

Yay Dell... and more importantly... Yay Dell coupons!!!

I knew this guy that was nicknamed Acer. He could get laid without trying.
